@Riot On Esports and Champ Select
Hey there, I want to keep this short and to the point.
There are over 120 champs, so many choices, so many possible combinations.
Have you guys ever considered forcing pro players into picking more than meta picks? I mean, we saw the C9 vs TSM match and there was little to no diversity at all.
Perhaps you can implement some rules that require players to pick new champs for game 2 and game 3 and so on.
Eg. 16 champs gone right from game 1, you are left with 108 or so to choose from. Then 9x, then 7x, then 5X. There's at least 10 champs per role, and even if you force an out of meta, such as a no adc/support, we will see more creativity with high level execution. Some games will look more like solo queue which is fun to watch anyways at a pro-level(see Rush or Sneaky)
Another possibility would be to gray out, 5 of the 10 champs that were picked in game 1, and game 2, etc. 2 per team, with the 5th being one of the banned champs.
Of course we may see more sloppy games, but this will separate people who have complete game mastery from those who are just good at champions. It will force coaches to think of more strategies and force everyone in general to be more adaptive to the game itself (who doesn't like surprises). This also may be a solution to the perfect imbalance that you are running here. The most imbalanced champs (Vladimir) will not see a game 2 or 3 anymore, so weaker picks will be able to contest for a spot. This can also help you guys at Riot figure out what kind of tweaks the off-flavor picks may need.
The current meta where there's 2 good champs per role is boring.....very very boring.
Note: You can always experiment with things like this in the collegiate tournaments or something.
I play a sport called Handball with a small golf sized ball that is hard enough to give you bone bruises if you hit it wrong. Sometimes we get handballs that bounce weird, don't bounce enough, or have some general problem. Someone may complain that its not fair, BUT, if you think, the ball is the same for both sides, so its not unfair, the ball bounces bad to everyone equally, we just have to adapt to it quickly or lose the match.
Sorry if some of this stuff doesn't make sense.
