Is stacking Rod of Ages a good thing to do?

I had amazing success a couple times today where I stacked multiple Rod of Ages. Every game though, a couple people were saying I was an idiot for having multiple RoAs. After 3 RoA, Seraphs and Deathcap w/ blue buff I was sitting on 1032 AP, 3k HP and 4K mana. How is that bad? I am really tanky, and if I die, my egg is tanky. Any high elo players have any thoughts? Ofcourse its not a build you could every game, but when I get ahead, it just seems to amplify my lead.

I love doing that but : boots + 3 roa + seraph = 5 items slots. You lose so much flexibility. Zhonya ? Voidstaff ? Rabadon ? Lyandri ? etc

It's not necessarily a bad thing to do, but it's not exactly optimal either.

not every game is going to last 40+ mins for this build to even start being good. RoA needs 10 mins for it to finish stacking and if you want to get ahead you don't build something that requires time, a Deathcap, Lyandri's, Zhonya's would be so much better in so many more scenarios it's not even funny

  1. It takes forever. It takes a lot of gold and a lot of time to stack.
  2. It makes you predictable. If you don't get stuff like mag.pen. or Zhonya's, it makes you easier to counter.

Otherwise you should be good. If you get ahead enough to do it, it works.

Ehh, game's gonna have to go on for a long time for those passives to actually ramp up, but yeah, the stats are crazy strong.

It's certainly not as bad as it used to be, but it's still not good. Focusing on one stat (in this case one stat for offense and one for defense) is worse than spreading items across multiple stats.
