Illaoi W vs Jax E - weird interaction or am I missing something?

Today I noticed a weird interaction between Illaoi and Jax. Jax can apparently block llaoi W with his E, disabling her ability to trigger her tentacles in the process. The description of Jax' E reads "blocks all basic attacks", and to my knowledge, Illaoi W is a spell and not a basic attack. Am I missing something or is there something deeper behind it?

Please enlighten me. :)

Her W is literally a basic attack...? I don't know why you think it's a spell.

ACTIVE: Illaoi's next _basic attack _within 6 seconds gains 225 bonus range and causes her to dash to her target if it's not inside her base attack range, dealing bonus physical damage, capped at 300 against non-champions, and commanding all Tentacles in range to attack her target.
