Mastery levels that really matter.

I think Mastery levels are way too lenient in terms of what it takes to get them. Mastery level 7 vayne might be about as good as a mastery level 5 vayne with a couple of lucky games in there. I think if you were to promote mastery level 8, 9 and 10 you should require a set number of S ranked games with that champion in a row. By in a row I do not mean play vayne 3 times in 3 games in a row, because that would be hard to do. I mean for the next 3 games that you play vayne, you need to get an S in those games to gain a mastery level token. I don't know if this is even possible to keep track of but I think it would be awesome to really feel like I earned a mastery level from investing time into my champions.

Getting an S three games in a row

That has honestly got to be the most frustrating idea I have ever heard. That would make me hate the champion.

I suppose, I was just throwing it out there because of all the backlash people get for being mastery 7 and having a bad game. I figured it might help alleviate the negatives.

Anyone can have a bad game though. No one keeps a 100% winrate on a champion for long.

Yea but for some reason the common thing in my low elo is "how the hell did you get mastery 7 when you're 0/5 and you can't land anything!" It almost becomes a target for players having bad games. If people understood that it was harder to get mastery levels maybe they'd be more sympathetic or whatnot.

It's just them being a dick. Everyone can have a bad game, nobody is perfect.

I had a ranked with with a plat border rank 7 Twitch player who admitted several times he screwed up in our game (and despite how fed he got, we lost because of poor plays). Shit just happens.

Edit: Plus higher mastery levels would not make people more sympathetic. Nothing would change.

Ah. I was just hoping to make it more meaningful to achieve things in LoL. As it stands I have all the champs and runes, all the rune pages and 70k ip with nothing to work for.

Well now we have honor to grind.

Unfortunately there's no progress bar that shows where we are at in our honor level so it seems like a useless banner and then it'll randomly just change one day.

Mastery is not meant to be a reflection of skill (and neither is the grading at the end of a game). It's just something to show that one has spent a bit of time playing a given champion.

I suppose I just thought since people insult mastery level 6 and 7 players that have a bad game for lack of skill that it was a skill assessment but I guess that's just them being a jerk.

All they are to show is how much time you spend on a champ. And honestly your idea is bad, you cant get S's very easy in losing games and its super hard to get them sometimes anyways.

I have had games where I am 17/2/7 143 cs 35 minute game were I only get an S-. How am I going to 3 s's in a row if I lose 2 and get some bonker ass game and still dont get it. So what does it prove? In my opinion they need to make it less about kills and CS, and things like objective damage, wards, as well as the other stuff because who cares if someone went 10-0 with average CS a few games, I am more concerned if they play consistently well on a champ which I dont think this systems always shows.

I'm not sure how S ranks actually work. I do agree that some champions seem to get S ranks way easier than others.

I think it depends on 2 things

  1. How much the champ is being played.
  2. How good the champ is.

I was having a hell of a time getting rank 7 on rengar when he was popular and "Broken", but then once he was gutted I just needed, what in my opinion, were two average games. Like right now I bet Twitch and cait are super hard to get S's on but Sivir/ez is probably pretty easy.
