How does armor penetration work? +Lethality?

Is it possible to have 100% armor penetration? For example if I'm playing Garen and hit someone with 4 spins to shred 25% of their armor, shred 30% of their armor with Black Cleaver passive, and then buy LDR or Mortal Reminder to get an additional 45% armor penetration to add up to "100%" armor shred, how would this work? Say I did this to a person with 100 armor, how much armor would it shred? And since lethality shreds a flat amount, is it possible to shred 100% of someone's armor?

Thanks for reading!

pretty sure armor shred or pen or any kind is multiplicative not addable. so you can't really ever get to 100%

plus there is the whole thing of current versus base versus bonus armor.

The shreds are multiplicative, so they don't stack with each other in that fashion.

The math is far more complicated than I care to be doing in the middle of the night but I can point some things out for you to look into. LDR or Mortal reminder use BONUS pen, not total like Black Cleaver. Bonus only comes into play when your attacking somone with armor items, runes or masteries.

Yes, however under what conditions this can occur depends on what you mean by "shred" in your question. With enough armor reduction/penetration+lethality, it is possible to completely ignore an opponent's armor and effectively deal true damage. If the opponent's armor is low enough, it can actually be reduced to 0 or even go into the negatives.

Not with %armor pen alone the way % armor pen currently stacks.

If you have 50%, 50%, and 50% penetration, you'll penetrate 50% of the target's armor, 50% of the remaining armor (75% total), and 50% of the remaining armor after that (87.5%).

Now: if you have enough flat armor penetration to take out the remaining 12.5% armor, you'll effectively penetrate 100% of a target's armor and deal True Damage. The 40 armor/mr reduction on Nasus's Spirit Fire will pretty much always do the trick there, and that can be applied for teammates to take advantage with their own skills and items.

The shred don't stack that way. Say someone has 100 Armor and you get your E to shred their armor, they are now at 75 armor. Black cleaver will then check the 75 armor and shred that.

And item 3033 item 3036 only check bonus armor. So only armor gained by runes, masteries and items.

it is possible to have enough armor pen to go through all of someones armor but it is not possible to have 100% armor pen
