The ranking system

Hello everyone. I just wanna get this idea out there real quick.

I don't enjoy ranking because it bases your rank on your previous rank in the previous season. I don't like how that works. I wish riot would refresh the ranking system so that every year when you do your placements you can get silver 1 even if you were like... say... bronze 3 last season. They cannot base it on the previous year because people improve in skill over time basing it on the previous year is not an accurate ranking system. This season (season 6) I went 6/4 in my placement, and in every single game I did well, yet riot still gave me the ranking of bronze 4. No I am not crying about my ranking I received, I just believe that they should make the ranking system "reset".

TL;DR: Every new year starts out fresh, therefore, the ranking placements should start out fresh.

Yeah i went 8 and 2 and got put in bronze 5. I started playing ranked a lot this week though and I've already climbed to bronze 2. It's not to hard to push your way out.

How does this make any sense? Do challengers have to climb from gold 5 to chall every year? I just can't see how this would be a good thing. What are its pros?

There is the soft reset which partially addresses that, plus you can play during preseason to give your ranked mmr a nudge in the right direction in a far less stressful environment (not to mention the competition is probably weaker during preseason).

Seasonal hard resets would be problematic though, since theres tons of legitimately low bronze level players who would spoil silver+ matches, as well as diamond+ players who'd spoil things the other way and it'd just generally be an unpleasant experience for the majority of games until the season was more or less done.

Dealing with first time ranked players in placements is frustrating enough as is (given they're often bronze level)
