Soo.. What happened to Zyra?

Meªt·12/3/2015, 11:14:53 AM·73 votes·4,657 views

I saw many posts and reds talking about how her passive could be buffed as to where she could have a revive-function if she were to kill someone with her thorn, and that seems tight.. but that was a while ago. I haven't seen or heard anything regarding Zyra, and she still seems to be kinda behind in terms of the previous metas.

Especially right now, since big big damage dealer ADC's are IN like MF, Graves and Corki, her lack of mobility and her pathetic HP/HP regen makes other supports much more desirable.

does zyra need a little love? can she get a little love?

I believe (and hope) Zyra will be tackled in the mage update which should be coming some time early in 2016.

Having said that, Zyra feels better than she has in a long time, imo. Thunderlord's Decree feels really awesome on her, and for support, the update to the Spellthief's Edge item line is wonderful for her.

I have to admit though, Zyra support feels outclassed by Brand support right now, in almost every way (aside from AoE CC).

Does she need work? I still main her and think she does perfectly fine as a support. Her passive kinda sucks and feels awkward with the delay, but its about as good as Kogmaw's.

Yes, she is slow, has no mobility, and squishy, but what other "support" can 100-0 the ADC at 6 with minimal AP? (I run 20 magic pen and go 12-18-0 in masteries, taking the flat pen). Zyra's the only champ I can play support as, go utility-damage (Sightstone, Rylais, Liandries, Zekes/Morello/Banner depending on the situation), and end up doing the most or second most damage in the game.

Woot, finally! A champion I main and can thus talk about!

Anyways, speaking a someone who has played Zyra mid since her release, I can honestly say she's in a good spot. The important thing to note is that she's NOT a primary support. She has, and hopefully always will be, a zoning mage. Her goal is to create areas of influence where the enemy fears to tread. Like Heimerdinger, but with a bit less damage and more cc. The changes to her plant AI a while back were among the most helpful buffs she could receive, actually making her a master of her plants instead of "Hey, Thorn Spitter, you want to attack that enemy champion? Please?".

That being said, her passive could use some love. It's just... boring right now. You basically get an extra spell after you die. That's it. Theres so much potential it could have. It could make her revive on a kill. It could summon a plant for each enemy champion hit. Hell, change it entirely and make it something interactive. Maybe killing something extends the life of her plants, and killing enough things 'upgrades' living ones.

Just my thoughts though.

She doesn't need much. I feel zyra(I play her mid not support actually) is in a pretty good spot. Although her passive does feel a bit clunky so I wouldn't be opposed to them changing something about that. But other than some change there that does little to nothing for her overall power I don't think anything else is really necessary.

Can we PLEASE not buff support zyra? Please don't just give up on her mid laning and just shove her into support. I would like to see her make a comeback in the midlane.

The same thing that always happens to Zyra - nothing.

Everybody keeps saying she's fine, but she's really just not. She has clear strengths and is functional but just outclassed by better champs. The stats reflect this, especially this patch. She has one of the highest average games played of any champ, and her results are just barely average.

This is what happened: Her getting nerfed multiple times in 11 patches.

FantasySniper12/4/2015, 12:08:15 AM3 votes

She needs a little something, but it's difficult to give anything to her without it going overboard.

Obviously, her plant AI needs work. Then her passive would be the next best thing to change. Only about one out of 5 of my deaths with her have resulted in a revenge kill, but otherwise it barely affects fights. Maybe a root on hit for all targets.

Likely she will get changes with the other immobile mages. Probably in february to marchish.

Lack of mobility? just build item 3116 and see how insane she is.

Bleediss12/3/2015, 11:47:38 PM3 votes

She doesn't need love. She's just highly underrated and people don't know how to use her or what purpose she serves.

MunchCrunchLunch12/4/2015, 6:38:48 AM3 votes

zyra needs a total rework imo

SithesisLord12/3/2015, 11:42:22 AM2 votes

Well, Riot did say they'd give immobile mages a look in early Season AD6.

If she could become a mage kind of Illaoi, i´d be cool with that. And get a new texture. Her ingame model is fine, but the texture.....oh lord, the horror.

FlippyGoneTrippy12/3/2015, 6:53:57 PM2 votes

Had a 4/0 Zyra jg on my team today lol.

ParaBellam12/4/2015, 4:32:17 PM2 votes

If Zyra was a bruiser mage it would be pretty dope. We don't have enough of those.

Her plants could scale in damage off her maximum health as well. It could even be her new passive (spells deal 7% of her maximum health extra damage) (Every third plant attack heals her for 5% max health). Her plants should have unlimited time but basically get Illaoi's tentacle treatment. `Her W can become some sort of spore bomb that is thrown but acts as Malzahar's E (plants focus that target, it is a DoT)

Ultimate could be a 2 second channel where she makes a plant golem thing that acts like Tibbers, but with crazy strong melee attacks and maybe something like an aura that boosts minions and plants.

Rolldembones12/4/2015, 7:57:10 PM1 votes

She made like a tree and leafed the current meta.

Riot forgot to water her :(
