What do you think about the current state of Sion?

Sion

I want to know what people think of his current state.

I love to play him and I think his kit is amazing but I often feel like a giant meat shield and nothing more. With the current item state and meta there is so much armor shred and % damage that Sion just gets melted.

Other tanks bring reliable CC and while he also has great CC, its very skillshot reliant and easily avoidable :(

  • What do you guys think about Sion current state?
  • Does he need buffs?

He's good but not as strong as his completely broken self from right after his rework so people think he's weak. Welcome to tanks: if they're not completely busted, the community thinks they're garbage.

He's my top champ; imo he's a fantastic example of an actually balanced champion. He's a conditional pick who excels in certain matchups and is countered by others, but you can still usually cover his weaknesses decently well if you know what you're doing with him. His skills are strong but not impossible to play against, and he fits his role of "CC-heavy brick wall" pretty well. I do think Giant Slayer is stupid, but this isn't specific to Sion, it's just the absurdity that Riot thinks there needs to be an item specifically for tank-busting.

He's my main jungler (top is risky with Fiora being FOTM) and I absolutely love him. Great in team fights, which have become my favorite aspect in the game.

He doesn't need buffs, at the moment because the balance team needs to rethink how they do things. If he got them with the current thinking of the balance team it'd be like he takes 50% reduced damage while his shield is active, or something absurd like that.

He's fine, don't touch him!! He's very underestimated, and buffs will just put him in the public eye to where he'll get completely trash canned. He has some clear counterplay, and a good functional kit. Just leave him!

Biggest thing with Sion is his shield detonation. Everything else so far I think is fine, but the time required to detonate the shield needs to be lowered.

Honestly I think it is an issue with the amount of armor ben in the game more than anything else. In my experience, once it gets late game, someone with 300 armor still takes a shitload of dmg from ADCs, and add onto the fact that they made Giant Slayer, he just doesn't do much. I love playing the guy, I think he a more fun malphite, but malphite has the same issue that sion does, but much more reliable cc.

The state of the game does not favor heavy tanks really, unless you can manage to get involved in the rest of the game quickly for top lane. Unfortunately his TP ganks only become effective after level six, while Malphite has heavy slows, Maokai has much more cc on a shorter overall cd and much easier to land, and even volibear is hard to avoid when you get tp'ed on.

The state of the game just doesn't really favor him anymore, sadly. More focused on mid and early game champion, and sion feels much more like a late game juggernaut then a mid game tank/bruiser.

Sion used to be my favorite top lane pick and then Riot introduced so much %hp bursty things it kinda made HP less relevant. Which makes me sad cuz he is hella fun to play.

I just think he should get a small overl dmg buff. Or just buff his W shield.

I miss his old ultimate

TotalJerk2/13/2016, 8:30:27 PM1 votes

All of his abilities are too rank dependent. Every point you spend feels like you're sacrificing your other basic abilities for the sake of the one you ranked.

All I want is a cleanse on his passive's speed boost.

Rito please

Kaiser Noah2/13/2016, 10:09:12 PM1 votes

Hes fine. The only change should be making it to where his movement speed boost in his passive should last like 2 seconds longer.

I would argue he is currently the healthiest champion in the game when comparing Strength vs. Weakness and Power vs. Counterplay. He is one of the hardest champions in the game to play well and possibly the easiest to counterplay, however, he is also extremely rewarding and powerful when played well. He is a great Jungler atm, a pretty good top laner and a surprisingly good supp... I've even had some good success as both mid and adc with him... XD

He doesn't need buffs.
