@Riot Can we have real discussion on reworks instead of surprises

This is in regards to any future reworks that are planned. (e.g Taric Yorick etc...)

TL;DR Let us have greater input on the stages in between character rework discussion and the final reveal

  • Are you like me?
  • Have you got a champion you like to play up for a rework?
  • Are you ready to enter great discussions on the possibilities of what a kit rework would look like?

well... TADA !!one!1! that's really too bad because the final reworked version is already here and us guys at Riot spent allot of time in secret creating this so you better learn to love it...because well. Its done! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

All jokes aside my main reason for asking this is because the only reworks that have come out recently have been hush hush until all abilities/ideas/lore have been fully fleshed out and released on PBE. Now this works for new champs but I do not believe it works for reworked champs and here is my main reason:

  • reworked champs already have some kind of thematic as well as a loyal playerbase

to suddenly release reworks the way you are currently doing without greater attention to an apparent community feedback often alienates players

This isn't to say you don't listen to us players; you really do and its great. The problem is the gap between listening and a final creation is one big unknown. We have little idea what you are keeping/introducing/changing

Now as my name implies I am a Shen main. I have played him allot post and pre rework. I still enjoy playing him but I do wish (as I am sure allot of other players do) that consideration was taken with introducing game changing elements into his kit without feedback from players. I think allot of players who had their favourite champions reworked feel the same as I do.

Champions need reworks and some champions definately need a kit overhaul...I have no issue with that. My gripe is that we have no real input as a community on those changes until they are finalised and only open to tweaks.

I really do think Riot has great feedback and correspondence with its players, which I greatly appreciate. I just think that involving players in the rework process more is a great idea for both learning more what players expect and customer satisfaction.

Thank you for reading

Shen

No everytime we have 'community input' shit generally turns out worse, we aren't fucking designers, stop acting like you are.

Case and point Rengar his rework had the largest community communication of any of them, and ultimately because of it failed to address his game health issues because the community was obsessed with the unhealthy parts and convinced riot to leave them, and now we all suffer because of our mistakes.

Or the Juggernauts who ended up horribly overtuned the because the community insisted they were being gutted by the reworks and got them buffed to stupid levels.

Cannot upvote enough; this refusal to work with the community is why so many champions' had failed reworks.

Proponents for Riot giving more credence to the feedback from the community always fail to take into consideration three facts:

  1. At any given time, at least 80% of the community is retarded, biased and lacking in understanding of the game's mechanics.

  2. The community can never reach a consensus on anything. Pretty much every aspect of the game is fiercely controversial and people will spend dozens of pages arguing over every detail. No one can here ever agree on anything so on what basis is Riot supposed to extract the "good" feedback from the trash.

  3. The super-majority of League players will never post on these boards or give any feedback to Riot, so when people say "the game designers should listen to us!" what they actually mean is "the game designers should listen to this vocal minority!".

For the most part, things are hush-hush until the official reveal because things are still subject to changes. If things get released too early, people form expectations and attachments to what is still not set in stone and may not ship (see Ao Shin).

Taric is evolving!

Dun dun dun!

Taric is now a glasscannon assassin!

It fits his identity perfectly! Ass Ass sin!

How outrageous!

The only problem is that the community doesn't know what they want.

RiotRepretoir: Who would you like to see in the Cass rework?

Random player: Definitely should still be a poison champ.

RiotRepretoir: Gee, thanks.

Same here with Quinn ult rework, I still miss Valor.

Right, because I really wanted my AD melee crit/sustain berserker made of hate and F@#$ to come out as a clumsy, slow tank that, when CC'd is laughed at as his passive dwindles away. Sion

I don't care how many people like his rework, F@#$ NEW SION!

I was a Poppy main, played like +1000 Games with her, reached Diamond just playing her, in any role (even supp,adc...), building whatever i wanted and carrying.

I feel like her rework is garbage and my 1000 games became lost since my level without her is bronze (didnt played my 10 ranked games this season since i know i will lose).

Riot should take some consideration for people who main X champ, even if only 1% of ppl plays her.

Of course the 99% of the lol's players will like the rework.... but, in a country outsiders have no vote.

Riot actually has some consideration on reworks if we talk about rengo, etc, since they are popular, but with champs like Urgot, Sion or Poppy, they doesn't even care, since almost nobody plays them, they just kill them.

How can a fearsome assassin becoming a peeling tank a "Great rework" ?
