What metal bands should influence Mordekaiser's rework?

Mordekaiser

There are many different directions from which gain inspiration for the inevitable (please?) Morde rework. So what kind(s) of metal can we look to as jumping off points for his skills and lore?

1. Dethklok

Deth metal: Brutal, technical, and energetic, yet kitschy and very tongue-in-cheek. Sort of a novelty act.

In his VO, Morde would be well aware of the fact that he is a caricature of of himself. He would be made as ridiculous as possible.

2. Dream Theater (a la Scenes from a Memory)

Prog metal: Highly technical and inspired, but still capable of brutality when it's called for. Somewhat pretentious, and not the most accessible for your average listener.

Morde's character model would be artistic and refined, and his kit would be mechanically very demanding and fast-paced, yet satisfyingly cohesive with lots of synergy (like a concept album!). Hard to pick up and run with, but to those dedicated to him... an experience of perfection.

3. Black Sabbath

Old-timey heavy metal: A real sense of doom, futility, and negativity. Jazz and blues influences. Not too technical, but not a nursery rhyme either.

Morde's kit would leave him open to a variety of viable builds and playstyles. Medium difficulty.

4. Opeth

Progressive death metal: Confess I'm not super familiar, but I'll say dark and furious. Pretty technical, and a real diversity of sounds.

This version of Morde would have lots of tools at his disposal, and a well-rounded kit.

5. Deftones

Bad, just terrible metal: Metered and predictable. Technically lacking. Poor live performance.

This would give him a straightforward kit without much agency or room for creativity, and subject to bugs. Actually, current Mordekaiser is Deftones Mordekaiser.

6. Metallica (late 80s into 90s)

Metal for the masses: Much more accessible. They're in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame for chrissakes. Still pretty brutal at times though.

This Morde is accessible and fun with only a moderate skill ceiling. He's dark, but not tooooo dark.

So how can inspiration from different metal acts show up in the reworked Morde? Thoughts?

Depends on whether his reworked kit is complex or not.

If it's complex, I'd say Meshuggah.

If it's simple I'm not sure because I don't really listen to simple metal :^)
