I play toplane 90%, mostly because it seems to ignore autofill. With toplane being the island that it is, you get honored like once in 2/3 games.
I just got my Honor 3 today.
A thing to note is that I honor people a lot, even if it's a support whom didn't say a word the entire game, thus getting the team bonuses.

so I am guessing you gain honor by just winning games

you get points if everyone honors someone you get points if you are most honored you get points if you win the game.
