Idea for a partial Evelynn Re- work.

I am a HUGE fan of Evelynn! There are few champs I have as much fun playing with!

... Which is why it makes me sad to see her LONG history of crippling nerfs with her "Permanent" stealth being the go to excuse for why she'll never be balanced! This is my idea for a minor shuffling of her skills that would stay true to her Shadow assassin identity, and end this perma-stealth (Which I argue is nonsense!) debate once and for all!

I'd take Shadow Step and Dark Frenzy and shuffle them up as following.

[Edited after some input from others]

New Passive: Dark Frenzy - Hitting a target with an auto attack or ability grants Evelynn 10% movement speed, stacking up to 5 times. One stack falls off every 3 seconds, and restores 1.5% of her missing mana.

New W: Shadow Step - Cost - 30 mana, CD - 15 seconds (Dose not begin until stealth ends.)

Passive : Hitting a target with an auto-attack or ability reduces the CD of Shadow Step by 1 second.

Active : Evelynn enters a state of stealth detectable only by true sight for 10/20/30/40/50 seconds. This stealth is broken when she takes damage or uses and auto attack or ability. If Evelynn breaks her stealth with an attack or ability, It deals an additional 5%/10%/15%/20%/25% true damage on hit.

Whelp, we've come full circle now. We're back to the original Eve. God help us all. Oh wait, it's worse than the original Eve. And as someone who played quite a lot of original Eve, I can point out some of the number and balance problems with this idea.

First, numbers are really low. Check out Twitch's stealth for an example. While champions like Wukong can make use of gap closers and champions like Twitch have range to make up for their short stealths, Eve has neither, leaving her high and dry if she has a stealth this short. The original had 10 seconds of stealth on the first level of the ability and almost always leveled it to 2 (20 seconds) before hitting 6 because 10 was on the short side to close gaps and get into warded lanes undetected.

Second, we're back to original Eve's problem. Having the blue smurf literally pop out of nowhere and ram her foot up your ass is not a fun experience unless she's not fed, in which case you might enjoy it. It gives her a play pattern that has much of the annoyance of her original passive with a lot less power or utility.

Third, traditionally stealth abilities like this are packaged with something else to make up for the fact that a skill is completely spent on utility instead of damage or protection. See Twitch, Wukong, and even Teemo for examples. The original ability came with a stun, which was changed to a slow when she was gimped. Yours currently comes with nothing to help her out with, giving her almost none of the power of her passive, a fraction of the power of her E, and a whole lot of disappointment.

That's not to say it's a bad idea. However, when Riot finally gets their act together and finishes the Mandrake Ward, a ward that pings the map whenever an enemy champion passes near it, Eve will have a lot more counterplay to her permastealth, which makes her easier for Riot to balance. I don't think it's an idea that should be implemented in the face of that item, whenever it does get fixed.

I've only been playing a few months. RekSai was the newest champ when I started, So I don't know the entire history of Eve's Ups and downs... :P

I was just trying to come up with a way that she could be given better stats w/o losing her identity, And NOT writing something so OP that I just looked like a stupid fan boy. :P

As I said earlier, I think Eve's passive is fine the way it is, since she's the only stealth champ you can see coming before she's already hitting you. but for some reason The balance team keeps smacking her down... That last hit to her Q was significant! and the larger slow on her ult DID NOT make up for it...

Would my re-worked W be better if it instantly gave her 1 stack of Dark Frenzy per rank? Or does the initial stealth just need to be longer?

Welcome to the Eve fanclub. Where we watch Riot "fans" club Evelynn repeatedly with the nerf bat under the guise of buffs. That pattern's nothing new and it's getting almost to the point of Poppy/pre-rework Eve in how determined Riot is that Evelynn never see the light of viability.

But back on subject. I would recommend checking out this page (scroll to Patch History) for some background on how Eve used to be versus how she is now. Your W would also likely be better if it gave her a flat MS boost for the stealth or by adding something to her offensive capabilities (up to you on how to interpret this) and needs a longer initial rank, probably closer to the 5 second range.
