My Problem With Runes Reforged and How It Impacts Players Between Veterans and New Players

Before I begin, I just want to make it known that I am glad and thankful that any compensation at all is being given, because with most companies nothing would be refunded at all, and I am thrilled that Riot is working with players. However, being thankful doesn't mean that I'll accept whatever, especially when asked to respond with my thoughts. Also, I'm not trying to belittle the problems that veterans face, since they are also losing out, however I feel that it's hard to deny that what I have to say isn't true to some extent.

I understand that pretty much everyone (except those who never had runes) are getting, to an extent, screwed over, but I feel like those who take the biggest hit are those of us who started between the veterans and the newer players (season 4-6 I'd imagine is a good estimate). I personally started late season 4 (around Yasuo release), and as soon as I could (level 20), started putting IP into runes and later RP into the extra 3 rune pages I have now. I now have a pretty standard set of runes, not basic but not all of them, and after I had the runes almost any champion could use, started putting IP and RP into champions. As of now I only have 19 more champions to go until I have every champion in the game, closer than most people get.

Sounds alright, until you realize that players without runes never have to go through grinding for the IP to get these runes, and that veterans have nothing else to spend BE on but the special store. Meanwhile the middle ground players are losing the vast majority of our IP spent on runes while not having enough saved to participate in the store.

And yes, you could say that I should be glad I get this extra BE from the rune refund to finish my champion collection, and that is probably what I'll spend it on, however I don't think that's fair to say. If not for runes I'd probably have had enough IP to buy all my missing champions (most of them are 4800s) and then have more saved up for the store. And yes, veterans lose as much as we do in the runes, but, unless you wanted to play Pokemon with the runes (gotta buy 'em all!), veterans have about the same amount of runes that we do. The only difference is that veterans have been around so long that they couldn't find anything to spend IP on, where we're still trying to fill out our champion pools. It really sucks knowing you're getting the same refund as people that don't need to buy the essentials like champions and can buy limited time cosmetics, but you can't buy the fun things because you still need to buy champions, which actually effect gameplay.

Also, as a quick, kinda off-topic note, I think the reward for RP bought rune pages is a total joke. I bought 3 RP rune pages myself, which cost me 1770 RP, and I'm being refunded with a SHARD of a skin that costs 1350 RP (so even less than 1350 RP in value) for a champion I probably already have the skin I want to use. And that's with the rounding, I'd be even more upset if I bought 4 pages. It's a creative way to refund RP bought rune pages, sure, but it feels so lacking that I'd rather just get the 1500 BE the IP bought rune pages get.

EDIT: I guess saying all of this is meaningless without at least suggesting changes. If I could suggest anything, it's that you should keep the cosmetic BE store open forever. One of my biggest problems right now is deciding if I should waste BE on these special, limited time cosmetics, or I should focus on the gameplay-oriented expenses. It feels crappy to know that I have to choose one or the other before the store closes. Of course then there's the issue of just anybody being able to get these cosmetic rewards, but they have to work for so much BE to catch up to those who've had the ability to play longer. If people skipping out on gameplay-impacting buys for the special stuff instead becomes an issue, I'd suggest locking them out until they have a certain amount of champions. Kind of like a prestige store, where after your hard work pays off you can use any extra BE you continue to get on the more fun things.
