champion one-liners need updating now

since they all boast it to allies and enemies alike, they're kinda off now. for example maokai's "I do your bidding... for now" sounds so subdued! it's not a line he'd say to the enemies to taunt and boast, it's a line he'd say to the summoners... isn't that outdated? and sona's "only you can hear me summoner" that's just nonsensical now.

Seeing as the entire concept of 'summoners' was scrapped (with no lore overhaul or sufficient context), I agree. It would be a considerable effort on Riot's part though to rerecord all of the 'summoner' lines to something more fitting, as well as coming up with a substitute name for 'summoner spells'.

The lore in general seems to be in a state of limbo at the moment. We've had several segments with the Harrowing/Bilgewater/Shurima/Freljord events which give some context but because the Institute of War (building/organisation which ran the League of Legends to settle political disputes, etc via combat) was scrapped, there's nothing tying it together. We literally don't know why our champions are perpetually in a state of never-ending combat with one-another.

When the foundation of the lore is removed without something to compensate, I imagine it's hard for Riot to give their champions interesting, non-generic voiced lines which are still pertinent to the lore of the game. We get someone like rework Poppy who has 50% of her lines devoted to her hammer and the other 50% to finding the 'hero' (herself). That's all we know about her... not the most compelling character. Had there been more lore to go on, her character probably could have been developed further via her voiced lines.
