Rants and Ideas for the New Season
Well, for now I think we just need to take a step back and enjoy all the new stuff and then decide what's broken or not...
That's what preseason is for...
My main champion has one of the worst win rates in the game (around 45%) and I still play him every game.
If Riot were to buff it even slightly it would go from UP to OP.
You know what? I rather have an easy to play champion were I can focus on decision making and map awareness, and not having a FOTM champion where you get it banned every other game, or picked by the enemy team.
People love to say "OMG, no skill champion." Sorry to break your mood, but not everyone needs to play a high skill champ in order to succeed.
We are not here playing for LCS spots or Worlds, but Solo Queue.
And Solo Queue at the moment is based much on your team first 10 minutes:
- You are winning 10-1 by the 10 min mark, usually you will get a victory
- You are down 1-10 by the 10 min mark, usually you will get a defeat
- It's a close (within 3 kills) match by the 10 min mark, it will go to the best decision making, teamfighting team.
- Team with the big lead gets cocky and throws away advantage, going back to scenario 3.
I don't really expect preseason to change much of this.
**However it is a good team for Riot to change things and spice them up. The game needs changes and an evolving meta to stay interesting.
I still think Riot should implement one or several of the following:**
-
Destroyable terrain, opening new paths in the jungle and river. This would "regrow" and close after x time.
-
Random competitive maps. Summoner's Rift is cool and all, but I would rather have it as 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 random maps, forcing players to adapt strategies and team comps.
-
Remove promotion series for advancement for repeat ranks. For example: This season you already got to Gold V, and you have lost enough points to go back to Silver I. If you gain 100 points as Silver I, then you should automatically be promoted to Gold V again.
-
Give us the tribunal back. The community will be able to handle most cases and review the logs and game footage, and Riot will only have to say the final word. This will empower the community and at the same time, make people understand they are not being banned by Riot's whim but because their peers find their behavior unacceptable.
-
Promote Local Esports. LCS and Worlds is great, but Korea's domination of the game will continue until you find a way to promote infrastructure on countries that have local potential. My suggestion would be like national league's, the same way as soccer has. Each league would have teams fighting for the national title, and at the end you could pit the national champions against each other (Aka: Champions' League).
-
Put in a linkable achievement's page. Soon you would see people putting on their facebook and other social media, their newest achievement: "Penta-Kill with Teemo" - "500 games as Alistar" "Won 3vs5 at the 42 minute mark" - "No deaths game in Silver as Janna". Not only would it give players a sense of achievement as they link their season X page, but it would also allow players another way to feel their are improving in the game, rather than just rank.
-
Hire me for the development team because I am gamer and I am proud of being one :P On other words, your Fans and Players are the best asset of your game. They will contribute with everything they got for the game to get better, IF you let them. Take notice of what goes on in the boards, you will find good ideas lying around just waiting to be picked.
-
Promote a "Champion Skin Contest" - Have people send their drawings of what would be a great skin. Invite the best one to work with Riot graphics artist on making that skin come to life. Not me though, awful at drawing here.
Hope you enjoy the ideas.
Cheers.
