Who else feels like riot did I good job with this? I think that there kits aren't super complicated, but they aren't bland and boring. I love how riot also made it so that their kits work Best together, but they can be played solo. Some questions though.

  1. On the recall thing, does one just piggyback on the others recall? Or does It reset when another joins?

About Rakan, Can you use other spells while ulting? Like R into a W to charm then Knockup, Or Can you E while in R? and if you can E while in ult, does it charm everybody you pass as you dash? For his Q, Can it heal multiple people? And does it work on jungle monsters? And Finally can his W Knockup Monsters?

About Xayah Is there a max number of quills you can have out? Does Q damage falloff with distance? It looks like it does. W seems simple enough. Does her E refresh if she hits someone with her feathers? Or does It not have a cooldown?

I only have 2 fears which I hope are unfounded.

  1. Whether the special interactions between the two will be unbalance able. (more likely to be abused in Pro play)

  2. After their release, whether I'm going to get some snotty little ADC mains picking up Xayah, and Requesting (or Demanding) me to play Rakan, when I don't have the IP to buy them right away. (And I got plenty on my to buy list)

I'm worried about your first point. There seems like 3 possibilities:

  1. The synergy doesn't actually add any power, so the the champs are balance-able

  2. They have to balance around the synergy so the champs are super weak individually (in which case you just need to ban 1 every game)

  3. They balance around their power individually and the synergy is just completely broken when picked together.

This seems like a nightmare honestly, especially on release. My guess would be one half the tandem gets nerfed into oblivion and the other is playable (probably the ADC half).

From what I'm seeing, they seems to do fine on their own, especially Xayah. Still might be too early to tell. They are definitely better together but the bonuses they get for being with eachother arent life-changing.

I think you could also make the argument perhaps that coordinating to get both of them and the advantages of them working together could be similar to the payoff of getting any other strong ADC and Supp synergy

Yes. Exactly my thoughts, the only major difference being that there is no tooltip that signifies the synergy for other adc-supp combo, but its still there nonetheless.

Their synergy is pretty minor. An extra range when Rakan E's to Xayah, and Xayah placing her W on Rakan.

Yeah from what i'v seen it's the same as any other really good ADC+Sup combinations, like braum+lucian, that shits really good but it's not broken. If rakan actually did a lot of damage early it would be broken but he can't reallly abuse the W he gets so it's fine, and the dash distance is enormous but again it just makes their synergy really good not broken and you can definitely get away with playing them individually. xayah for example is probably a strong adc and top laner alone and rakan is certainly a great sup or jg alone.

I mean what if Rakan just spams recall and then Xayah hops on and insta recalls that shit is broken

Thats a neat idea. Super situational and hard to pull off (the uptime on the insta recall isnt much) but im sure ill see it in random lol moments eventually.

If a bursty champ like veigar had that itd be horrifying, you could just sit in a bush, pop someone 2v5, and escape, but it doesnt seem like theres much burst on the birdgirl

I thought her W increased her auto's scaling as well.

Unlike Kalista though birdgirl can throw 2 out with her q and like 5 out with her ult which, not including her autos throwing out more, is a lot of damage.

Her ult has a heavy delay and long cooldown, and Kalista's Q applies a Rend stack as well, so I'm gonna have to refer you to my previous comment.

eh I don't think she'll have kalista low levels of damage, remember they gimped the hell out of kalista because of how good she was with the pro teams did they not?

Not like kalista can't have burst, if I recall correctly they just severely toned down her numbers.

Besiiiiides bird girl happens to have 4 abilities that do damage so I can't imagine her ever having less damage than kalista who has 2 utility spells that require a partner to even do any damage with.

Well, no, birdgirl has plenty of damage, it's just not burst. It comes in bursts, but it requires too much setup.

Rakan's VO is probably simultaneously the most hype or the most annoying VO I have ever heard...

I figured he would have a deep Prince Charming eske voice, not "WOO! I'M GONNA SLAP ALL A Y'ALL" "SLAP SLAP SLAP!"

Their duo lines are probably the best lines in League, period...save maybe a few of Jhin's, Sol's, or Poppy's joke strings.

I don't think any can beat Kindred's for me. Even though Kindred is trash right now, which is a shame.

Rakan • Pretty sure you shouldn't be able to cast other spells while ulting. It would be awkward imo. • I want to say no. But at the same time yes when I'm watching the heal. It could heal multiple people just the heals activated if you touch an ally. And it works on epic monsters as stated. • Nearby opponents. So, it should work on monsters.

Xayah • Depends on CDR ? Need to try that out in Practice :D • Dunno. • Don't think so since it's not stated.

Why does Xayah have an ult which makes her untargetable? It gives her ridiculous amounts of safety if used right and it'll probably make her ridiculous at high tier play whilst not being that impactful at low tier.

She doesent have a lot of range I don't think, and she requires setup. It feels like she needs this because shes so close and still squishy.

shes not very mobile either, if she gets dived on my a xin/camile/ any other champion with a dash i dont think she deserves to auto die.

Well, her ult and snares galore will provide her with a decent enough amount of defensive options. If Varus can survive with nothing but his ult to keep enemies at bay, I would imagine so can Xayah. I would just take Ghost on her if you're worried.

varus also has a ton of range with his spells has a slow and has % health magic damage along with his Root capable of affecting a whole team though.

Snares galore? It requires setup and for the enemy to be in a certain position. Her defense options are limited at best lol.

Vayne has an ability that lets her outright dodge anything on a 2 second cooldown and Kalista has a zero cooldown dash on her autos. These are just two examples of marksmen with more safety than her, she has her movespeed boost and the potential to very briefly root an enemy if they line up with her feathers and so requires prep time, neither of those things is good for dealing with someone jumping on her, I really don't think the ult will be THAT big a problem.

Kalista has to be in AA range to actually use her mobility, and she also has to stop (its worse depending on AS)

Wow an 8 second cd 30unit dash! Althought you can use it to get over a wall, its not as useful as 80 movespeed mf buff.

One of them is a hot piece of ass, the other is a cool ADC I might actually take interest in(that waveclear man). So yeah, I think they did pretty good.

While I like their kits in general and am rather fond of the depicted personalities, I really don't like how they only reach their full potential as a pair. It's one thing to work well with another champ, but having a kit that essentially requires a single specific other champ to actually use everything to it's fullest is just BS.

Its not really like they need each other, Rakan just gets a longer dash and Xayah gives her w to him also.

Rakan actually doesn't synergize that well with Xayah kit wise outside of providing pretty good peel (in which case Ali/Lulu both do that and more). Rakan actually probably synergizes best with Mordekaiser since he offers him literally every thing he could ask for.
