Riot, since your matchmaking system is kind of flawed...why not have a ranked 1v1 mode?

I realize that you want this to be a team based game...but I think players should learn to beat someone 1v1 before acting in a 5v5 situation. Plus, your individual skill only means so much when the rest of your team is bronze level.

I think I speak for several players when I say that there needs to be some kind of ranked 1v1 mode so you can effectively feel like you aren't forced to play 5v5 in solo/duo queue only to be matched with idiots and be unfairly ranked and have to climb out of bronze

instead, you can rely on yourself, blame yourself for your mistakes(there is no one else to blame) and congratulate yourself when you earn the ranking that you earn.

1v1 wouldn't be as bad of a mode as a lot of you seem to think. I think it'd be a nice addition but it should absolutely not have anything to do with the current 5v5 rankings. You should not have to play 1v1 first, and it should have no effect on your 5v5 rating. A player could be good at jungle and support and not know a thing about how to play good at 1v1 or any champions good at playing 1v1. Someone could be massively incorrectly placed in 5v5 if you considered there 1v1 rating.

Precisely! This guy gets it. It would be an ENTIRELY separate rating, much like the 3v3 rating is.

It's just another way for people to earn ranked rewards without having to play 3's or 5's or yoloqueue.

they use to have one. It was about a year ago during the snowdown showdown. You could 1v1 and 2v2. It was actually really fun. First to 100 cs, take tower, or FB.

I did enjoy it. Riot said that players didn't put as much time into it which I think is a skewed number when the average game takes about 25-35 minutes and a 1v1 or 2v2 took maybe 5 minutes. I wish they would bring it back because that would be an awesome ranked ladder for riot to have.

allows players to still feel good at the game with a separate ranking

brings new meaning to '1v1 me dude'

and simultaneously is a way to practice skills in high stress situations where it matters and you are ranked by performance.

I see virtually no drawback of having this sort of mode besides the obvious amount of work being put into actually creating and implementing that system. :D

wouldn't a 1v1 mode turn into League of Duelists? how would the win be decided? i've done some for fun 1v1s on Howling Abyss with friends and dying after a certain point guarantees the enemy wins because of winions thanks to respawn timers would some champions have to have game-mode specific balancing because of this?

I think that allowing for game mode specific balancing wouldn't be a horrible idea. Shorter death timers make sense to me. But yeah, it would be a 1v1 duel. Think of it this way: It's a great way to test your individual mechanical skill or your ability to deal with a counterpick or your ability to know matchups between two champions in general. :D

Don't be an idiot. 1v1 is not a true test of skill, because it lacks literally everything that makes a pro player a pro (proper warding, working with teammates to secure objectives, proper ganking at good times to help snowball teammates, etc.). A 1v1 tends to become, "Does my champion counter yours?" or "How many kills on you do I need to get to make sure I win the entire game?" (which is usually 2 or 3).

To put it into perspective, I kicked the fuck out of a Diamond III player in a 1v1, but he was MUCH better at the actual game than me, due to using strategy and teamwork as if it were his left and right hands.

Sometimes it's not all about winning, even a normal 1v1 queque would be sick... just for fun and learn your champs mechanics without any distractions. Just you and another person, head to head, that would be SICK.

No, it's just a different KIND of skill being measured. Instead of 5v5 skill, it is 1v1 mechanical skill and understanding and mastery of the full extent of your champion versus someone else's.

except that league isn't balanced around 1v1s and it will just end up with "welp my champion can beat yours in lane, guess i win" or "your champ beats mine in lane... guess i lose" and "why bother using scaling champions in this mode where the one who gets the early kill wins"

I think you'd be surprised. Nasus(a scaling champion) could probably do pretty well So could Veigar. So could Sion.

Ever tried beating a LB with AP Nunu? I've done it. Several times 1v1.

Since this is ranked, you would get 3 on each side anyway, to ban those 'omgwtfop' champs that should be banned regardless of 1v1, 3v3, or 5v5.

yeah because you will pick a champion that gets denied so easily in a 1v1 scenerio. People don't pick Nasus because of his 1v1 people pick him because he scales well into the late game even though he can be shut down early. You pick a champion that counters him or that harasses him and you pretty much won the lane. Same goes for Veigar and Sion. Learning matchups may be an important skill but so does not overextending and knowing how to transition to dragon fights/baron fights and knowing when to group. Once again, league isn't balanced in a 1v1 scenerio and there are countless things that would be taken into consideration before this forms into any sort of ranked system. The most you can hope for it's that it becomes a permanent thing that is just there purely for fun like ARAM is and then hope to god that they care enough to give it a rank queue and by looking at Dominion i don't see that happening any time soon in a new game mode

As I said, it is not the same elo, much like 3v3 is not the same elo in ranked. Teamwork is important, yes, I never said it wasn't important. But if you cannot even grasp the mechanical abilities of your champion and outplay your lane opponent or play well in general and get cs at all...how much does teamwork really do at that point? Aren't others just...picking up the slack for you?

As one person posted the videos of the 1v1 thing that Riot released I believe that if it happened it should be the same champion vs same champion because a support vs a jungle wouldn't be the best mach. Maybe not exactly this but a jungler, adc, top, mid, and support mode all with different objectives. I'm sorry if this is asking too much but it would be VERY cool. summoner 31
