Thank you @Riot for the in-client replay system!
I mean it, thank you.
Last night I played a game going as Teemo in the top lane against a Riven and though I won lane I knew I wasn't playing all that well. I could have been more aggressive , I could have positioned better, I could have done a bunch of things better. Either way, I still won lane and I won the game but I wasn't feeling too happy about it so after the game I immediately went to watch my replay using the new feature and boy did I tilt when I watched my gameplay back. I actually lost count of how many opportunities I missed for various things and my only 2 deaths were completely stupid, I had no reason to NOT get a perfect KDA that game and then though I had roughly 97 CS in the first 11 minutes of the game... I then went the next 10 minutes of the game without getting a single minion. #4EverBronze
If this feature wasn't in the client though, I wouldn't have had the thought to go and immediately watch the game back because it would have required me to load a website and then download it from there and it would have just been too much work so I wouldn't have even bothered but since it was there in the client though and it was so quick to get to and load up to watch I had nothing to dissuade me and as a result I gained incredibly valuable information about my own mistakes.
Because the replay was SO INCREDIBLY EASY TO ACCESS, I learned the following things in addition to what I mentioned above.
-
My first death was the result of me wasting time and being indecisive while trying to steal the enemy blue buff away from the enemy jungler -- In the play back I had at least 3 chances to steal the buff and get away with my life that I didn't take. This resulted in the enemy getting shut down gold off of me.
-
My second death would have easily been avoided if I hadn't gone as deep into the enemy jungle without vision as I had without my team. Again, this gave the enemy shut down gold as well.
-
I had a greed flash for a kill on the enemy jungler in the early game that though I managed to get the kill, I shouldn't have gotten it and I wouldn't have against any other jungler I'm sure so that would have been a completely wasted flash if I wasn't so lucky.
-
I got level 2 and level 3 in lane before Riven did but I didn't take advantage of it and completely wasted my chances for a level 2/3 first blood.
-
On a couple of occasions I was busy clearing a minion wave or an enemy jungle camp when I should have instead been with my team.
-
Though I didn't die to any of the ganks the enemy jungler made on the top lane, I allowed myself to be ganked too easily which resulted in me needing to burn flash when I otherwise could have saved it.
-
I missed out on a lot of kills and assists only because I hesitated for a second or two too long.
-
I wandered around for a total of about 7 minutes throughout the entire game where in that time I was doing nothing useful whatsoever which delayed the victory.
If you haven't tried taking advantage of the in-game replay system yet, I HIGHLY recommend that you do. I can guarantee that a lot of you will be surprised to see how many mistakes you make that you just aren't aware of as you're playing the game. When you watch it back you'll think "Is that really me playing!? NO WONDER I LOST!"
So again, I say thank you Riot. With how easy this is to access now I have no excuse to not watch back my own gameplay and as a result I'm absolutely positive that it will help me to improve drastically as a player. Diamond tier, here I come! XD
