Ryze Rework Ideas (Post your ideas)
As we get closer to the inevitable Ryze rework, I thought I would ask what people would like to see if they could rework Ryze. Please post any ideas you have below. Thank you.
Here are some changes that I think would be interesting at least to see. I like some of them more than others and I don't know if I would want all of them together but have presented them as such. I'm really unsure about his ult and I have no idea how the changes would react with his current passive but here we go.
Q - Overload
What I want to see is a longer range skill shot Overload that one can charge much like Xerath or Varus Q to gain damage and possibly range. My reasoning is that Overload simply sounds like a charged ability based on its name. I would want it to start its CD timer at the beginning of the charge much like how Riot is modifying Varus's Q now. This would allow one to possibly throw out an immediate Q after shooting off the first one to keep with the theme of a spellslinging rogue mage.
W - Rune Prison
For Ryzes W, I personally would like to have a trap much like Caitlyn's. With CDR and levels in the ability, he would be able to have multiple Rune Prisons up around the map. Not sure if damage should be instant or a DOT but I like the idea of it being a trap that Ryze could use in a variety of ways.
E - Spell Flux
The E is pretty solid to me, but I was thinking it could have an interaction with the Rune Prison in some way, either increasing the damage of his E if it hits an imprisoned target or the ability to bounce off of the W to create an AOE damage or CC.
R - Desperate Power
Ryze's Ult makes his teamfighting very strong and I would want that to stay core to his kit. I would either keep it/ only modify it slightly to compensate for the changes made to the rest of his kit (maybe giving temporary CDs to his abilities so he can spam the hell out of them, and then taking out the ms buff or spell vamp). Or make it an enhancement ult like Karma's or Heimer's that gives each ability a buff in some way. For the Q, boosted damage or multi hit effect. The W could be turned into a larger AOE root that could trap multiple enemies. And for his E it could bounce more than just the set 5 times perhaps hitting up to 10 targets (or fewer targets multiple times). I feel like his Ult should have a heavy price for Ryze as it is called Desperate Power. I would multiply the amount of mana the ability he chooses would cost by some amount appropriately. Late game, Ryze doesn't seem to even have mana in his current state as he has so much of it, but this change could take a heavy chunk out of his mana and force the player to make a decision about how to manage it.
I understand that these changes could change the overall style of how you play Ryze, but I think they allow for a more interesting experience with him. Think of how Sion played before his rework, given you play him AP, you point, you stun, you blow up your shield in your opponents face. AD, you point, you stun, you hack them to death. After his rework, he felt so dynamic. His damage and CC weren't as reliable, but that was what made it so much more fun to play him IMO. It was such a great rework and Riot was able to add different mechanics into the game with his E and R. I just hope Ryze gets a kit rework that will make me excited to play him again.
