What role/lane is Sylas?

What role/lane will Sylas be? Apparently he was intended for Mid but can be flexible for Top and Jg. So where will people play him?

I would think mainly mid. He definitely seems to be a diver/assassin hybrid, and midlane is where most assassins go, both for an appropriate matchup as well as the potential to roam around and get kills. I could definitely see him go top with a bit of a larger emphasis on defense, but suspect such a build will be less popular. While it looks like he could go jungle, that position can be a bit difficult to judge without actually seeing a champion in action, so I'd say we have to see how he does in terms of clear speed and sustain before making that call.

from my tests with him on the pbe I'd say mid and jungle would be his best suited areas

Meh, mid but jungle as well. He has a lot of AoE waveclear + heals for camps and CC, engages, disengages for ganks.

Support. Be beefy in lane, interrupt the marksmen, then steal the sup's ult and make it rain with the "supporting."

"Sylas’s kit seems to suit him well in the jungle. Was he meant to be a jungler, or is there another role you expect players to employ him in?

While Sylas isn’t meant to primarily jungle, we definitely wanted to tailor his kit to allow the possibility. Where we landed, I think he can play in any of the solo lanes or the jungle, but we really wanted to focus on Mid/Jungle, as those positions really highlight the power of his ultimate and allow the player to come into contact with more enemies to steal from."

This is from a Riot AMA about Sylas.

He has all the tools of Camille with the build path of Diana, so i don't see why you wouldn't be able to take him in any of the three solo roles depending on your preference. His kit seems to be very flexible in terms of build options, so i figure he could work just as well in top lane as he can in mid lane. Especially with his kit having % HP modifiers, i'd even argue he is supposed to be built like a battle mage. (Mage juggernaut)

His kit does help him Top. A Q that pokes and slows, W for sustain, E for CC and gap closer and ofc the R. Although he does seem like a squishy but with the right build he can suceed in Top. Idk about JG since his W doesnt heal from jungle camp. thoughts?

Every role until the first weak or two!

He can play any role. His builds are flexible and his game play fits all rolls.

As Top I can fight almost all top laners

As Mid I can fight almost all mid laners

As ADC I can build a TON of burst

As Support I can build Def AP and my engage is SICK

As Jungle I can gank well.

If he's put out as-is... wherever the hell he wants.

l play him at top lane but l don't think he is supposed to be but it works he can fight most champions but now i'm starting to play him at mid

JayTheCasual1/26/2019, 9:09:51 PM1 votes

I honestly don't think he will do as well in mid lane because of his range. I think he would probably be a jungler or a top laner

Mid and Top is what they've said, though I will play him support for sure. His base damages are beefy enough for it too.

I play him bot. You should try. I prefer it.
