It's sad to see Garen back at a below 47% winrate in Plat+ again.

I expected it but it does show that unlike Darius (And some other juggernauts), due to the simplicity of Garen's kit he can't have a 50% winrate without being busted . I just wish Riot had focused a little more on addressing his binary game play and giving him a little more to work with like they did to Darius.

most people who play Garen want that, he's got a terrible kit that doesn't hold up well with Riot's new vision of the game. His rework was a massive let down and I think Riot should give him larger changes just to make up for the failure of the juggernaut group update

people who don't play him will tell you he's supposed to be le beginner champ though so he should continue to have 0 mechanics that actually help you learn the game

i still dont understand why they chose garen for that.

Nasus would be the ideal beginner champ for people who want to understand and pick up juggernauts.

Garen is fine. If anything, they can rework his W, which they are. I prefer the flat 30 armor/magic resistance over the 20% bonus resistances. I prefer the longer auto attack range, the slight gap closer on Q, and the villain mechanic. I do not have to buy sun fire cape because the enemy picked up a hexdrinker.

I personally prefer the Garen rework. The 2.5 second silence was too long. I max Q anyways, so by the time I hit level 10, I am not that much behind from the old Garen spin damage of the early levels. I prefer the shred on E, so I do not have to buy Cleaver. I would easily trade old Garen for the current one.

I do not buy cleaver or sunfire on Garen, but I have a 60% or so win rate on Garen in D5. Learn to adapt your build and go at least 3 damage items, and you will see how strong Garen actually is.

But Garen gets kited! Good. He needs counter play and it separates the Great Garen players from the trash ones.

How do you know they are reworking his W ?

Meddler mentioned it. Could be soon or after Worlds is pretty much what he said. You can look for it on the boards.

he had more than 50% winrate without being busted though. he was fine for almost a year until the mage update.

only problem is pretty much an entire year of nonstop indirect nerfs, with a minor buff in between to offset that stream of nerfs for one or two patches, which nontheless continued.

i dont even think he needs massive changes. but they could do a couple small things to increase his mechanical depth.

Actually, most people that play Garen are <30. And it's probably good he's simple because of that.

He doesn't have to sacrifice his simplicity to be a better designed character and for them to address some of his inherent flaws..

Nik Nikerson2 votes

And what exactly would make him a better designed champion?

It would help if people stopped rushing Cleaver or Sunfire on him every game.

Garen pretty much needs a new W, and as much as I will regret saying this, it needs to be some sort of slow, jump, or some sort of CC.
