Anyone you mute in-game, should be still be muted when you get to the end game screen.

You had them muted in game because they were making you sick to your stomach. So they save their most obnoxious comment for the end game screen, to flak you one last time before you leave.

If I mute someone in game, I would appreciate it if they'd stay muted in the end game screen as well.

Id' rather see a "Boot" vote to kick people out of lobby before they get a chance to troll your game.

Well it does serve as a good reminder to report them. At times it slips my mind when i mute someone like 5 minutes into the game because they're because a total asswipe and then after i close game i think "ah shit, i wanted to report that one guy" but then it's already too late and you can't report anymore.

Vlada Cut5 votes

Ikr? It pisses me off that I have to see unecessary flamatory of these idiots appear in my post-game lobby.

Same goes for not being able to mute them before the darn match starts lmao.

This has been suggested a lot You know that in-game mute is " in-game " thing only right? Idk how is it supposed to carry over in the end of the game screen

yeah riot can't possibly code something like that to transfer between ingame and out of game. no way too complex. they're only a small indie company after all [slayer-jinx-wink]

They changed that several seasons ago because if you were to mute your friend (accidentally or otherwise) it would block them and remove them from your friends list, with no way of adding them back until you removed them from the block list. Muting and blocking isn't the same thing, and there's no way to mute people out of game (only block). So in order for this to work they'd have to program a separate mute function for out of game use. It's probably not too difficult, but then you have to consider costs and what else they could do with the time (like making money) and it might not be worth it to appease the 5 people that complain about it on the boards every other month.

What.

Just make the mute carry over to end game chat, that's it.

It doesn't need to affect your friends list or private messages, just also hide the persones messages only in the end-game lobby chat.

I don't see what's so difficult about this. Easily a few hours of work from a single programmer.

Leetri1 votes

That's what I'm saying, there's currently no way to do that without blocking them which removes them from your friends list. They'd have to program in a mute function that only mutes the chat, cause that feature currently doesn't exist in the client.

Well it's not that easy , after all Client is not connected to in-game

SoryInAdvance9 votes

Then how is the client able to have all of the damage stats and KDAs from the game??? There is, of course, a connection between the two to tell the client to come back up after the game ends also.

that's something else ,j ust general info that even sites can show that

its not hard, when the mute button is pressed it can easily send one message to the client. ONE that adds that person to your blocklist. simple. easy. i could do it and i don't code for a living. and IN client make blocklist people not visible in chat also simple.

They specifically removed that because people would mute there friends either accidentally or not and it would block and remove people. Or in the case of the /mute all players, you would have a blocklist of thousands and thousands of players. It was already a thing. The difficulty is not the impact.

It's a simple thing really, leave the end-game lobby...the only reason to stay is to talk trash, all the stats can be viewed from match history and LP can be seen on your profile.

I don’t think it’s a given that the two are connected just from that. Since other sites have access to the same data (or at least most of it), it’s more likely that both the client and those sites access Riot’s servers to retrieve the game information, so if mute data isn’t included, there’s nothing to grab (not that it can’t be added). Still, there doesn’t have to be a direct connection between the client and the game for the client to be able to get your KDA.

As far as the client restart after game goes, it’s possible that there’s a background process that runs even when it’s “closed”. It could ping Riot’s servers for game status and check to see if the game closes, which could also explain why it takes so long to get out of game.

Then again, I haven’t seen their code, so all of this is just speculation, but it’s definitely possible to accomplish those things without ever establishing direct communication between the client and the game.

Riot has a public API that sites like op.gg, etc. use. I've made my own projects with it. However, they can probably add just a little boolean value for the muting values on the JSON response object they create. Even if it's in their own private API.

ShacoMasterRace1 votes

Muting is client side not server side. Stats etc are server side. I'm not saying its impossible of course but in all honestly it would be quite a hassle including this even though it seems like a small thing to add. And that is probably also the reason why they are not adding it.

SoryInAdvance1 votes

This is kind of a weird case where there are two client-side apps working in tandem. Really, where I think that info can be passed is in whatever mechanism tells the launcher client that the in-game one is done which triggers the post-match lobby to make the API calls and be rendered.

The client has all the data about the game - damage, items, gold etc. I don't see a reason why it couldn't also know that you muted someone.

The same way that kd carries over you make it carry over (aka read xx was muted in game so mute them as post game lobby is loading)

Just ignore it, don't let some random idiot who doesn't even know you get to you.

IainG102 votes

That's what I do; I leave them unmuted, just to see if they start saying anything truly ban-worthy. If I mute them when they're just everyday toxic, how will I know if they subsequently went into hate-speech toxic? A good half of the people trying to bait you into saying something ban-worthy cross the line themselves with their own bait in their increasing efforts to get a rise out of a silent person.

Lukáš Mrákošlap1 votes

Well, nobody forces you to stay in post-game screen, such mute is just a waste of time and resources. You can just leave [and downvote me to oblivion as well]

Clone Is Friend1 votes

they should stay muted for the rest of existnance. for example if you alt f4 and reconnect they arent muted or when you get same people next game

Aletheiacracy1 votes

You muted them in game so that their comments don't affect your gameplay. Once the game is over, there's nothing you have to worry about. Why are you even lingering in the post-game screen to begin with? Sounds to me like you're looking for trouble, and in my opinion it makes YOU the problem not the person using "distasteful language" to explain how you're the problem.
