This was a game I was playing. I noticed the enemies were quite good, specially the Rengar player. I decided to check the game details.

I jsut can't believe my team has the same MMR as them. Have those 2 diamonds and 1 pre diamond never played normals before? Or was my lvl 21 Varus that good that he had the same normal MMR as a Diamond? I was baffled by that. It's too much of a stretch to believe the MMR, even if only the normals MMr, was balanced...

Edit: I know all that thing of normals MMR being separate from ranked MMR, but that is just a stupid excuse. So if a player has, per say, a Diamond V MMR, but never played normals, it's like he has the skill of a level 25 player in normals? The skill magically vanishes?

There's a lot of factors that go into match making. Normals prioritize game speed over game quality, meaning that you get games fast, but they won't be as balanced as ranked games. Normal MMR is seperate from rank MMR, so it just means that people in this game had similar MMR. MMR can be different than a person's League, especially in normals.

It's possible that those diamond players only played normals till lvl 30 then switched to ranked only and now play normals like once every month which doesn't really have much impact on their normal MMR.

You can quite clearly see that the team MMRs were balanced. Your team actually had the higher normal MMR at 1770 while theirs was at 1748.
