Tank Itemization Suggestion: Under Pressure
Yo, I've been thinking bout how to help tank itemization out a little bit and have come up with an idea that may work. So yeah opinions on it would be great.
My idea involves a new stat attached to specifically to tank specific items. This stat is called Pressure.
Thematically I see** Pressure** as there being this big giant something close to me distracting me from putting my entire focus onto my real target. This distraction in turn affects my accuracy or damage.
Pressure affects the damage output of nearby enemies to any targets other than you within a small range (I'm thinking like 250-300 range) provided you are the closest allied champion to said enemy. This damage reduction increases slowly over time and increases faster based on how much pressure you have and how close you are to the champion. It would reset anytime: 1. Another allied champion gets closer to the champions that Pressure is affecting -Basically crap this assassin jumped me, Im not worried about the tank anymore 2. When the affected champion attacks the champion creating pressure. -the champion is now focusing on the source of pressure, so, its no longer distracting 3. When they get out of range. -The source of pressure isn't right in my peripherals, nothing to worry about
I envision this stat working as a soft taunt to give champions that build a little tankier a more consistent threat in team fights. Its pretty lackluster and sad when as a tank you go in, use all your cooldowns (which are generally long) and then are literally just walking around being ignored. With Pressure if you continue to stay in the enemies face and they ignore you, you're allies have a slightly better chance of surviving because of the pressure you're putting on the enemies.
By adding a little bit to each tanky item(such as randuins, spirit visage, frozen heart, warmogs, banshees veil etc.) A tank can slowly build up a significant amount of pressure to force enemies to have to kite away or weave in an AA now and then to reset the damage reduction that is slowly building up.
Bruisers may use this as well, but, generally, a bruiser won't stack full defense as they need more damage to make up for their comparative lack of cc. So they won't have as much Pressure unless they choose to forgo damage.
I obviously am not sure how much of an effect this would have on the game as a whole, but, number wise I was thinking that Pressure would stack every second and each stack would reduce enemies damage by 1% before armor or MR. If you literally stack all pressure items it would max output at 6% damage reduction per second provided you meet all the requirements above.
TLDR: Soft Taunt system attached to tank items reducing enemies damage to other allies when tank is in said enemies face
And yeah I'm curious to hear others thoughts on this idea, and/or if any one else has thought of something similar. Share!
