Maybe some of you Vi mains out there can explain this to me.

Hi, I'm a scrub who loves playing Vi (I played other mobas for a long time, joined LoL recently and placed middle silver with ~12ish ranked games). I haven't actually played Vi for a bit but yesterday I was mid with some high gold playing Vi jungle. Two or Three minutes in, she solos dragon. By herself. With only one or two items.

I know that if I tried dragon that early I would be killed, even though we have similar item builds. Is this some sort of high elo magic? I've never seen this happen before. Am I using the wrong masteries? Runes or something maybe?

It's probably the runes and masterpiece they had set up. Also could have been skill order. It would be very easy to solo drag at level 3/4 as vi if you only grab 1 point q

Different Junglers can solo the drag pre 6 or at 6 with ease.

Nunu, Shyvana, Yi, Xin Zhao, so on and so forth.

True, but I've never seen Vi do it before.

just go malz, get blue and solo drag at level 2 :D who tf cares about a puncher.

They changed the voidlings, jungle camps will 1 shot them now. Jungle malz is dead.

how do you even get 1-2 items by 3 minutes

I'm assuming they meant Machete, Talisman and a Long Sword unless stated otherwise.

Yeah sorry, bad wording. I meant literally two items, not two finished items. As was mentioned below.

he probably took a bunch of attack speed runes and didn't put points into his Q so that he could get the shield and consistent dps to take early drag. Is it worth the tradeoff for losing late game power? Idk, personal preference I guess

He prolly put an extra point in W for that.

Probably with good use of her passive

Depends also on dragon type. Red deals more dmg, mountain is quite tanky etc. Some seem more fit for early solo than others.

Cloud does most damage by attacking the fastest I think.

If you put two points into your W by level 4 you can kill the dragon very quickly.

You're absolutely dead if anybody shows up to fight you though.

If you put two points into W and have the right runes (AS AR & AD) level 4-5 solo drag is pretty easy with just the usual jg items.

I suggest you do it if you're on red side, I use AD marks, Scaling armour seals/MR glyphs, and AS quints. Masteries I go 18/0/12 making sure I have vampirism, runic armour, and the summoner spell mastery

Grab you machete and 3 pots, kill your red (without using smite or pots) making sure you use your passive with your E to mitigate damage

Go to your blue and gromp and kill them both (again, saving smite), using both of your next skill points on your W

Kill the scuttle crab if you can, when you start you should be at full HP

Start taking the dragon and after you chug your potions and take a couple of hits use your first charge of smite for the heal and if you use your passive every single time it comes off cooldown you should be able to take it, though like someone said if the enemy comes and spots you you are dead because you will have no hp by the time you finish

If you want you can add me and I can show you because I have done it the last few times I have played Vi
