This was lategame, almost full-build full AP Vlad hitting with at least two parts of his combo (one of which includes empowered Q), and you had no MR.

This is 100% reasonable.

The problem is that Vlad’s kit is point-and-click and AOE. All he had to do was walk into range, press a couple buttons, and click.

He had to walk up into Range, have nothing inbetween the Vlad and you, while having to charge his W whilest getting into range.

I get Vlad's simple, but there was timing and effort in it. Not a lot but enough where there is room for failure or teamplay.

That and nothing was done to actually stop him. A j4 ult would stop him. Vik/lux could stop him. GP ult/barrel could slow him down a bit.

All alone, no minions to block, and no team involvement to stop the engagement.

Seems pretty standard imo. Garen could do the same thing with less effort

You could say much the same about Annie, though, and she’s a squishy burst mage.

TheSingularity1 votes

Indeed I could. The same could be said for many champions. But despite the same capabilities, they have different tools to achieve them.

Annie really isn't any squishier than other mages. If anything she has more beef than a standard mage due to her defensive spell. Annie has a hard CC spell, stronger laning phase, a more reliable kit, more range and a near instant cast combo that deals more damage to more people (if both are in their ideal situation, annie has stronger team wipe capabilities).

In exchange for lacking these tools vlad gets: an invulnerability spell, heal, AP to health conversion and a damage amp ultimate (team reliant to a degree).

Zed, Annie, Darius, Vlad, Jhin. All have different tools. All can achieve the same outcome

Annie is also Annie. Like Garen, she’s strong when her gimmick works but falls off at higher levels of play. Vlad works well at higher levels, on the other hand.

He’s a battlemage. Though his meta build is stacking AP, it seems unhealthy that it should translate into 100-0 point-and-click burst, even when very fed. At that point counterplay just degenerates into running away.

Let me phrase that differently.

Lategame Vlad with 4 full items and stacked dark seal against a Caitlyn who was behind in level with no MR. Nothing was done to stop him, and the engage was with his fully charged AoE and his empowered Q.

If we're going to complain about getting burst by a champ in a situation where we should get burst by a champ, we should first effectively itemize against them. If measures are taken to make sure you're NOT insta-gibbed and you still are, maybe there's a problem.

Caitlyn, however, had no Maw or Merc Scim or Merc Treads. Wasn't shielded by Lux. Took Sorcery, but had no nullifying orb.

Caitlyn should have been gibbed, and was, in this scenario. It makes 100% sense and I'm also 100% fine with it having happened.

While the level and item advantage explains why the damage should be higher than usual, Vlad remains a Battlemage. His kit has the survivability to keep fighting and has point-and-click and AOE damage accordingly. It should not also have the AP ratio stack to snowball into burst that makes the survivability unnecessary.

RenownedWheat421 votes

Uh, that's just flat-out wrong and you're looking at stuff that isn't even part of the issue.

Vlad's survivability did not even come into play here. Caitlyn was just legitimately WAY too far behind to matter. Yes, from ahead, that should result in you crushing your opponent ESPECIALLY if they don't do anything to itemize against you.

yeah Vlad is kinda crazy if he gets the smallest lead. I had a vlad heal 1845 hp from JUST his empowered Q, check out the youtube video link if you dont believe me. I've already made my own post about how OP vlad is if he gets the tiniest lead. https://youtu.be/hDpPLqn2ndU
