Yasuo Identity Crisis

Let me preface this hopefully short explanation of my thoughts on this current Yasuo hate train by saying I don't want Yasuo gutted, unplayable, removed from game, or totally reworked. Even as a Varus main who literally can't do anything against wind wall. Yasuos kit is not intrinsically broken or even to far off from balanced in its current state.

Here is where I believe the problem with Yasuo currently lies. Yasuo is a fighter, he was designed as such and originally balanced as such. The player base did not play him as such though. They played him as an assassin.

So if you look into the past Yasuo has been balanced for an assassin build. 4-5 offensive items, boots, and 1 defensive item. Similar to Zed.

Now though people are playing him as designed. A fighter 1-2 offense, boots, 3 defensive. Similar to Jax.

Now I don't have an answer to this issue. It's tough, think of it as similar to the old soraka who was balanced as support but her kit was clearly utility mage as soon as people figured it out, she went mid and crushed 90% of matchups. Riot came in and said no soraka is a support and reworked her till she was.

Personally I don't see Yasuo becoming a mid lane full offense balanced champion again without kit changes. But it's mostly up to riot and partially the community to decide which Yasuo stays and what one goes away.

Bruiser Yasuo was literally just killed dude.

And he can still be built as a "fighter", just not with as much defense as the bruiser build.

item 3046 item 3153 item 3031 item 3111 / item 3047 item 3143 item 3102 / item 3065 / item 3156

A Yasuo with this build is both fairly bulky while dealing strong sustained damage. This is also the best build for dueling enemy champions.

Double crit chance is not something you give to a fighter's kit as part of their design. Crit chance is meant to unleash devastating amounts of DPS that can remove a champion from the equation in 2-3 seconds. You're confusing the fact that his playstyle, his innate playstyle, is that of a skirmisher, which people often confuse with fighter as he is meant to trade a lot in lane, but not truly commit to a fight for a long period of time, which would be what a fighter does.

Now though people are playing him as designed. A fighter 1-2 offense, boots, 3 defensive. Similar to Jax.

They weren't playing him as designed, they were exploiting an element of his kit that gave him an a nice chunk of durability which would lead to a much tankier build path being used on him.

Sounds like what they did to Karma's shield. I still dislike the fact that it no longer deals damage with mantra, which is so fucking lame.

Yasuo can be beaten by quite a few champions though, even mages, and not just ones like Swain either. Malzahar can shut him down as the windwall blocks none of his abilities, Syndra's balls can be thrown over the windwall, and Lissandra if properly positioning herself can use her W to root him in place as she's going in, and simply stay beyond the reach of his windwall so he can't poke her through it with Q, but still be able to poke back. The only genuinely hard part with Lissandra is E'ing toward his location as you have to have no minions for him to dash through as well as make sure you're not about to blink into his own minion wave and screw yourself over.
