Fiddle Drain/Unyielding mastery question from patch 4.15

Patch notes "Drain now updates every 0.5 seconds ⇒ 0.25 seconds (overall damage remains unchanged)"

You say it doesn't reduce damage, but wouldn't the "unyielding" mastery cause it to reduce damage as it now does twice the reduction(since twice as many damage ticks) or did I misinterpret the word "update"
