If these ardent nerfs dont kill the item, can we just remove the item from the game

I miss when supports were champions not items.

Regardless of Ardent or not, Supports will always be seen as items in the eyes of adcs. "GG WP, this ardent cencer cant ward ff@15"

brand support deals more damage than vayne in the lanephase.
Brand (and Zyra) support deal more damage than any ADC pre-35 mins
I know a Zyra main who always racks up 50k damage in 30 min games
I was playing Lulu and used Ardent Censer before they were meta, i always prefered the offensive aspect of enchanters over their defensive aspect, which i why i always found Ardent Censer interesting as an item.
Sadly i'm like the reverse of a meta-sheep, whenever one of my champion becomes meta and too mainstream, i bench them. In fact i've benched all my Ardent supports for the while being, and use both Annie and Bard in the meanwhile.

So a hipster?
I've found to be the same. I mained Tristana long before she was meta, and seeing her in the state that she's in now, is not only really sad, but it makes playing her just not feel as fun. She used to be this unique pick where nobody understood how her kit worked, and now she is one of, if not the most played champion in the game. And the best part is that this is because of Ardent Censer becoming op. Tristana's last buff, a 2s increase to her Q duration, was months before she was meta. Now, I literally just play Lulu. But not Ardent Lulu. On-hit/ADC Lulu in the jungle and not lane, and it's so much more fun than playing what everyone else is playing.
TFW your team asks you why you dont have a redemption when you have an ardent (pre ardent meta). but i know ur feel, i dont feel as good a player when im following an item meta
I've honestly never cared about the item for its passive, I just like the shield and healing power bonus attached to a decent amount of AP

Sorry, I've only been playing since S2. When were supports only the champions and not the items? I remember Heart of Gold+ Phil stone and wards (when wards were an item). I remember stacking multiple Frozen hearts and Aegis on a team. I remember (and still see) sight stone, locket of the iron solari. I remember specific support starting items (oh wait).
Fact is, supports have always been determined by their items. Their items that IMPROVE upon the strength that already existed within their kits.
Think about it, who buys Ardent censor? The supports who want to heal + shield you to bolster your damage. These same supports have redemption, Mikael's, and to a lesser extent now Locket and Athene's.
Who buys Knight's vow? The supports who want to protect their carries and soak up damage. What items do they also have easy build access to? Frozen heart (which slows attack speed to help protect their team) and locket got buffed for them (to help soak up damage). Honestly the only out of place support item I can really think of Zeke's Convergence.
Hell, even mage supports have access to Rylai's and spooky ghosts for catching people out to be a support by forcing picks.
The thing I want to see for supports, ESPECIALLY enchanters and tank supports (because I hate mage supports) are items that allow them to work with our spell slinging and tanky friends. Sure it's nice having a personal bodyguard as an ADC, but sometimes I'm not the carry because I got camped or outplayed bot lane. I would love to see something like Zeke's convergence reworked to be better for mages, or for an ardent style item that ONLY worked on spells. Maybe give tanks something that let's them link up knight's vow style to give them a combined health pool on melee champions, or perhaps a link that increase % max health items so that it can't be as easily abused by glass cannons.
or you're a taric who builds

I wish it gave movespeed instead of attackspeed on heal/shield
and maybe iunno, double the movespeed bonus if the recipient is melee.
makes the item way less "only auto-attackers can use this" and also helps out melees with gapclosing/getting kited.
it also makes the item way more skill oriented since it isn't just generic combat stats, it makes you think about using your heals/shields differently to help teammates re-position.
Do people realize just how insane this nerf is? Take this nerf with all the other nerfs. I'm curious to know how bad item efficiency is now. And for some reason Riot thinks that allowing the support to benefit from the passive somehow makes it ok?
The item by itself without any of the passives is already 106% item efficient.
http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Ardent_Censer I'm not making this up.
it wont be rushed anymore that's for sure
I used to build it quite often before it was overbuffed because people were complaining that it was "useless" along with the support as a class itself. Now I'm finding excuses so I'll never have to rush or even build it.
As a concept the passive it gives has to be weak, since all it does is do nothing but give FREE stats to people.
But the stats literally are not free. Someone is paying for them.
You might as well call the AD from
free. Or
's damage transfer free. Or
's %mpen free.
It doesn't matter who buys it - It's not free.
huh Ardent Censer by itself is already 106% gold efficient without any of the passives
I don't think Ardent is the only support defining item right now.
