What happened to the skins Riot used to make that were purely cosmetic and did not change the effects of a champion? It's been ages. I think the last time they had a skin like that (not including the pajama party skin-line) in the game would be the Dungeon Explorers skin line that came out years ago.

What happened to skins like sorceress lux or mercenary katarina that just changed appearances?

I want skins that look nice instead of having confusing looking effects like cowboy thresh's Q.

I think adding effects has become the new standard, as a long as they aren't overbearing like old TF's cards or Arctic Ops Gragas it's usually fine.

The last somewhat average skinline without any crazy effects was the Sewn Chaos skinline found here but as far as I know, it was cancelled for being very poor quality based on community feedback.

Well, you see, those skins that changed all the particles etc were originally "legendary" skins, and each champion was supposed to only get one.

Then better graphics designers came along...
