Elder Dragon: What Riot doesn't want you to know...
So recently I've been spending a majority of my time on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) to test out the new Akali changes and playing a bunch of one for all when I noticed that elder dragon spawned early in the game (around the 25 minute mark). I was like "okay maybe it's just a bug and they'll fix it," a match later and our team got to the 25 minute mark and it said that elder drake would be spawning soon after we took ocean drake a minute before. At this point the theory I had in my head became more solidified after one more game when it happened again. The elder dragon spawn time has been changed from 35 minutes to... guess what, 25!
What infuriates me about this change is that the Elder Dragon is meant to be a late game objective that provides the team with the most elemental dragon passives under your belt an advantage to either continue snowballing the game or make an attempt at a comeback. From my viewpoint it would seem that riot is hinting at us that the late game is no longer 35, 40, or even 45 minutes, but a staggering 25 minutes.
It's like they are trying to normalize fast pace - unfun games by adding in these sudden changes that make the game feel even worse. Like what's the point in elemental dragons, now that elder spawns way more earlier. At most you'll only be able to get one or two dragon passives before the 25 minute mark if you're lucky.
With this change, riot is promoting more objective based skirmishes that force players to fight for the dragon objective more often. It's ridiculous that this is the direction riot has taken with the state of this game. This is a band aid solution that will only cause more confusion and criticisms from the community.
