Ryze pokes you, pokes you again, and then roots you for 2s (with even more damage on top). Did you dodge the first Q? He doesn't care. His second Q is a guaranteed hit that will give him a shield and bonus movespeed (and even more damage). Meanwhile, his ADC will take advantage of your extended period of immobility. Better not push his tower while he and his ADC are away, because they might just TP behind you with their jungler in tow.

I look forward to Ryze's next rework.

I don't think it will be strong by any means, but thanks to him scaling off mana he can get frozen heart and a bunch of other tank items whilst still pumping out decentish damage. His root and Ult will also be useful. It probably won't be that great but certainly doable.

its not optimal though. i mean why play him support when you can build ap and still teleport an enemy whos been skarner ulted into your fountain?
