If anything, can we please give Sona this small change?

On her Q

Active: Sona sends out two bolts of sound that deal magic damage to the nearest enemies, prioritizing champions. Magic Damage: 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+ 50% AP) Aura: Sona and tagged allied champions deal bonus magic damage on their next basic attack within 3 seconds

Make it to :

It’s a small change that, as a Sona player, would do serious wonders. Would make her Q feel TONS better to use late game (and in general) and not only to be used for poke, makes it actually useful on champions that aren’t auto attack reliant, make the ability actually feel impactful, and adds to her thematic identity as an aura buff champion. This change alone would really make this ability feel a lot better.

I agree that it'd help, but how would it work with AoE effects? Would one Sona Q buff proc once on every single target hit by an Anivia's ult? I'm thinking the reason it doesn't is to prevent abuse, i'm thinking specifically AoE wombo combos like Malphite/Yasuo/Annie/Orianna/Sejuani and the likes.

There are already cases like this. In such situations the proc is either half or a third the effectiveness. There's no reason the same cannot be done here.

Mmmmh, fair point. What do you think of the two heal/shield-enhancing masteries in regards to Sona as either Mid or Support?

-Runic Armor: +1.6%/3.2%/4.8%/6.4%/8% bonus to all shields and healing on you (includes lifesteal and regeneration). -Windspeaker's Blessing: Your heals and shields are 10% stronger. Additionally, your shields and heals increase your target's resistances by 15% for 3 seconds when used on an ally other than yourself.

The first is more interesting for a Midlaner, the second pretty much sounds like a must for any Sona Support, but it's possible to get both. Now of course 8/10/18% of almost nothing isn't all that good but considering how she scales there may be some use to these.

10% of nothing is still pretty much nothing

Now the 3 hit thunder mastery, that sounds much more broken on Sona considering her Q poke even without her passive is 3 damage sources, you can proc is pretty much every time you harass

The resistance increase though....

Reminds me so much of old Sona.

The resistance increase alone should be good on Sona so thats a plus, I can't wait to use it on her

The problem with multiplying small numbers together is that they still result in small numbers... Sona has both the weakest heal and shield of all supports, these masteries are less effective than her abysmal scalings, at least those are an additive increase as opposed to this multiplicative one. You can use those same masteries on any other heal/shield support and get better results as you're starting with a higher initial base with the same multiplier.

All this isn't even taking into consideration the unusable range and duration of the shield or the absurd cost of the spell which just further widens the discrepancy between Sona and other supports when factoring in these masteries.

If the aoe spell hits only minions or monsters, the extra damage is distributed equally amongst them. If the AOE spell hits one or more champions, the extra damage is distributed equally amongst them and ignores whether minions were hit.

This has been suggested countless times. It's an obvious QoL buff, I don't understand why Rito REFUSES to do it.

Of course, it won't make her playable, it's like putting band-aid on a broken every-bone.

It isn't a QOL buff, it's a straight up buff.

Single target mages for example could make excellent use of it.

I feel like it's how the ability should have worked in the very first place tbh

That aura is useless to use on anyone that isn't an ADC right now

Eh... I understand your goal. But it's a tough one to realize. Some abilities just aren't good late game, and that's okay.

...and some abilities aren't good early or mid game. Why is it that Sona's are forced to be bad at every point of the game? How is that supposed to be fair?
