Please explain hextech chest

So I have been on many games where someone on my gets the "S" rank and here I am with no chest. I, myself, am NOT playing a champ that I have gotten an "S" with. Does this mean that in order for me to get it, not only do I need to play an "S"less champ but they do too?

Your only allowed 4 chests per month. Look at your champ section any champs that have gotten chests have a chest border. Also on your summoner page it says how many chests you can get left.

Also the person getting an S has to be in your pre-made group, not just on your team.
