Ap varus
I have played ap varus a few times, and I have done really well! I was just wondering what lane does he work the best in? And what build do you guys reccomend?

YOu can't take him top, cause you will probably get slaughtered as an immobile adc alone. You cant take him bot cause your team needs an adc for sustained damage. So the only lane left is mid.
Nashors tooth seems to be core on him. everything else is situational.
He can be played AP Both mid and Bot and has had success in ranked. A Varus AP player is in High platinum from just playing AP Varus constantly and having so much experience with it. His nuke capabilities shouldn't be underestimated with it. However you're relying on your autos and your ultimate to do the majority of the damage, and he still has his weaknesses of being immobile and having no escape so these two builds have stood out due to taking his weaknesses in mind. I've played it a good few times myself to try it out and it's pretty good if you're good with Varus.
Because of the skill needed to actually make the build work, you won't see it often and it's definitely not a meta pick build. If you intend to take to ranked with this you need to be 100% assured you're going to win. The following builds have their items obtained IN ORDER
Standard Mid Build
Runes:
x9 AD Reds
x3 AS Quints
9x Armour/Scaling HP
x9 MR Blues

Standard Bot Build
Runes: x9 AD Reds x3 AS Quints 9x Armour x9 MR Blues

Some notes:
These builds generally ensure at least an AP amounting to roughly 400-500 AP total. On top of that they provide some mobility to counter Varus' low movement speed as well as turning you into a hybrid burst marksman thanks to Thunderlord's Decree.
There's no AP Runes because the build is maximized to landing your three stacks quickly, so it's akin to On-Hit builds.
Max Q first, then your W. The reason for this is because Varus' Q scaling during the early game gives him massive AD Poke, allowing you to keep up your lane bully and wave clear, as well as abuse your AD once you get Hextech Gunblade. If you build AP Runes or start maxing W first, you're doing it wrong. It destroys your early game if you go that route.
At max level, your blight stacks do 5% Max HP damage plus 2% extra per 100 AP, totaling to a potential total of 45% max (With 500 AP) HP damage when you have 3 stacks on a target and you pop them. With the thunderlords combined with your ult and abilities, you'll melt opponents. Tanks can be cheesed with this at late-game, as you'll deal nearly half their HP with a single blow.
This build isn't even OP. Varus is one of the few champions in League of Legends who is moderately and accurately balanced. The damage you do compared to AD Varus builds is roughly the same; the AP build having maybe 100-200 more points of damage with a 500 AP build.
Always rush RoA when you're going mid. The scaling AP is very nice, as well as the extra HP isn't too bad either.
When going botlane you'll need a strong defense before you can build up power. So tanky supports like
etc are fantastic.
EDIT: To show how good this build is in a good team comp; look at this.

Now the enemy team should've built more MR but it goes to show how unpredictably devastating a Varus AP in botlane can be.
