Amumu

Most of his damage is from his Jungle Enchant and Rylai's AP.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

amumu dont need rylai's he has enough cc... i get it , its hp and ap but he really dont need the slow from it...

item 3151 way better choice and it has synergy with his item 1401 and if he needs item 3075 the magic pen from item 3151 helps the damage dealt from item 3075

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

or if you like item 1402 on him and get item 3068 item 3151 still works in every way and very efficient on him

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

IIRC, attack speed slows are sufficient to amplify the damage from Liandry's Torment.

item 1401 item 3151 item 3110 is a rather strong combination.

yes...

and when i play mao top... ( one of my mains/fav ) and if i can get away with it

ill build

item 3027 item 3068 item 3065 item 3025 item 3151 and what ever item 1001 i need

very strong synergy with him and his kit

Rylai's is a good buy if you have a couple carries, and just need that sweet sweet AoE slow field to let your carries do their work.

his stun is strong and he is very tanky, he also gets rewarded for tanking damage and kindof counters attack speed. Deals passive %hp magic damage and he can stop autoattacking for a moment which means a drop in sustain.

Has nothing to help him take any towers or anything though.

Currently he has an advantage earlygame because of how he can take down the wraiths which makes him one of the few strong tank junglers. In otherwords he's probably leveling faster than normal not actually just being strong but snowballing exists. But this can be countered with invades and harass cant it? He doesn't travel quickly which means stealing from him should be that much easier

here a secret: ready? amumu is always a viable pick due to his kit... has always had a good win rate... regardless of meta... issue with the mummy and most people dont take advantage of it is he is BLUE reliant early he really needs the 1st blue... and most of the time the 2nd if you counter jungle/invade his blue he is worthless and hits lvl 6 so slow you typically can build a lead to put your team ahead

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

another, more accurate, way to put this is that he abuses the fact that the average gold player and below has no concept of earlygame anti-jungle strategy. Plat and above may also have this issue but I dunno.

But seriously, they don't or they just don't care because "normals" makes the game too non serious to use common sense. I talked some noobs I was playing with to invade with me for example. They did it, we killed 2 of them in jungle and bot was under tower, they just started farming and pushing the lane probably flaming their team. I tell my noobs to go take bot tower for free. Illaoi didn't come so we could only get it down to half because we wouldn't win the fight if they stopped being stupid so we passed on that after that. I cant even remember what happened to their jungler after that but the point is that when I'm not playing with noobs or even when I play customs with like a gold or plat jungler I see the same thing. Nobody actually defends jungle. They always do it in tournaments though and I get called a tryhard for playing the game before minions spawn. That's how common this seems to be and it comes to no surprise to me that something like amumu could get away with abusing this

well there is a huge difference in coordinated team play ( lcs ) and 5 random people playing... if people wouldnt be so selfish and play as a team they would realize the true beauty of this game

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

The difference isn't that big, they are just being lazyasses.

There is no real reason to stand under tower at the beginning of the game unless you really think theyre going to do something to it.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

im not talking about just that... the entirety of the game it self and how it should be played

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

that's the only real difference. There's more but it boils down to people being lazy. Cant even talk about coordination when nobody is willing to try and fail, they don't try

The answer may surprise you.

has a massive hp chunk on his shield forcing you to fight or run

2 slows and has a knock up but its shitty and slow and does like no damage.

His e is annoying and his ult lets him get past his lack of mobility for a moment.

He has no targeted abilities, actually all of them push lanes and yet he is a terrible lane pusher. I imagine he's a great pick against people who don't know how to control a minion wave which is like 75% of the community so don't get the wrong idea.

Against a reasonable not bad player he probably gets like an hp items worth of free hp every match from passive if he still has that.

If you kill him he gets stronger for a bit and may kill you back.

He doesn't appear to have anything for taking towers down faster except his passive which is costly for the most part.

what else has he got?

Base damages are a thing. If they had no base damages, they would not be able to fight non-tanks in toplane/jungle. Take 100, deal 40. Even with more HP, you lose over time when they keep doing it.

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

True but then you have to consider, why are squishies always necessarily if there are champs like this.

Tanks... "tanks"... are supposed to be stronger earlygame and may snowball later, this is actually how its designed. They have better base stats that fall off over time due to outscaling, or is there a champ that doesn't do this?

DarkRitual1 votes

Their base damages are less effective when the enemy is building health and a relevant resistance. The prevelance of CDR has made some of them able to more easily pull off ability cycles to get their base damages off more often. It's not able that squishies don't often build health or resistances, so those rank 5 abilities' base damages are significant.

Squishies are needed because they are better are bursting down other squishies, and objectives, and often have an advantage of range.

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

One could also say this

tanky champs need to be that strong because squishies are broken.

this one is hardly tanky, but he can build into it. This one is more of a damage evader which is ultimately countered with cc. He can escape but he gets nothing done when he does escape. This is something I abused in my last match. He also cant push well and be tanky at the same time unless he uses a terrible build.

Are you just theory crafting how they're not dealing good damage or are you checking statistics on op.gg or such?

Theory in ones' mind can say: Soraka sucks at healing because she's squishy, thus she can spend the entire game dead against diving champs.

Statistics from real games can show different story though, and is usually more accurate since it's over a large quantity of games. http://champion.gg/statistics/#?sortBy=general.totalHeal&order=descend&roleSort=Support

In any case, I've seen a lot of successful AP naut tops lately. I don't see them as often as dairy, but they're out there! :D

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

To say i'm doing either would be an exaggeration. Lets just say we haven't gotten that far with any specific champ yet. Soraka can deal some damage but its very limited and she has no particularly hard cc. If she cant burst you then she is going to suffer unless she has a peeler.

Does she suck at healing? doubt it, but I believe it comes at a cost. A diver would be very strong against her but the catch is you cant rely on your abilities and you might not escape as supports counter assassins and assassinlike champs just because of their nature. But offensively soraka is very limited and she can't push well.

Soraka has nothing whatsoever to make her a strong tower or objective taker but she could help immensely if someone else wants to do it.. fitting seeing as she's a support and all. AD soraka isn't much better

Ive never seen this take any objectives so I'm not so worried about it

his damage isn't that good, he just doesn't take much of yours unless you can burst through his shield. He does average damage and does so in windows. If I'm not mistaken though you can prevent this damage by bursting his shield down.

Also he is strong early, he falls off later if you don't feed. He can't push for shit unless he goes ap in which case he still wont scale well and pushing wont be a good idea for him. He can take towers I think since he scales well with attack speed but then I don't think he takes towers down fast.
