Why is matchmaking even worse than it usually is?

I'm Silver 2, and this past week I've been getting paired with Diamond players in normals, who always end up on the other team. My last game was a team full of Silvers against a team full of Golds with a Diamond 5. The matchmaking has always been bad, but why does it feel even worse than it usually is? Any reason for this?

The Diamond 5 was acting like a complete tool all game so does it have to do with that whole 'banning toxic players from ranked' thing? Because if that's the case, throwing them into normals isn't helping the game, it's making it worse for those who would rather play normals for fun than play ranked and get screamed at by a bunch of man-children.

It's not just you. It's to the point that I feel like if I want even a somewhat balanced match, I have to play ranked. Otherwise you get a team of Silvers and maybe a Plat 5, while the other team has 3 diamonds, a master, and a bronze playing support.

Because that's 'balanced' in this game ^
