A request for Yorick's relaunch

Yorick's relaunch still has quite a ways to go, but I'd imagine that his updated lore will start to be written within the upcoming months, and with that I have a request I hope the writers will take into account as they go forward. As it stands, Maokai, Kalista, and Yorick seem to be the only spirits of the Shadow Isles who aren't truly evil. My request is that Yorick stays that way in his new lore.

Karthus's new lore is what actually prompted this request. His old lore depicted him as a man turned lich who was fascinated by death, and wanted others to experience death for themselves. His updated lore, however, had him taking someone's life against their own will, leaving a poor taste in my mouth. One of the reasons why I love Karthus is because he wasn't this malevolent monster like the other denizens of the Shadow Isles, he was kind of just doing his own thing, but now that he's been turned into more of an evil character I've kind of lost a small amount of favor I had for the guy.

I hope that with Yorick's new lore he can stay as more of a neutral spirit, rather than some vengeful creature who actively seeks to bury innocent people alive (taunt reference). It's nice to have the dichotomy between 'good' and evil on the Shadow Isles, rather than have the whole place be "evil, spooky spirits out to get you". Hell, maybe he can even be a good spirit, secretly giving hunters like Lucian passage to the Isles because he knows that the other spirits there like Thresh and Hecarim are evil. Probably not something as simple as that, but maybe have him fighting for some just cause.

Tl:dr Please don't turn the guy into some evil abomination that gets off on torturing innocent people. Yorick

"Life...slips away" Is it strange that I really like Yorick's melodramatic and melancholy delivery. I like the neutral spirit idea and if they want to make him more scary it shouldn't be how characters like thresh are scary. Most of the shadow isle champs are frightening because "they are coming for you". Yorick seems to be an inevitability. He will bury you one day whether through his action or nature. He should be creepy because of his dreary demeanor and the the subtle reminder of mortality. He isn't an angry vengeful ghost but the slowly encroaching hoard, the creep of old age, and the final resting place without bias to motive or alignment. He could be your friend but you probably don't want him to be.

One of Karthus' classic quotes is "Their pain... is my pleasure!"

Do you really think he was all that neutral?

Overall I always thought that Karthus would kill you to give you the gift of undeath to you, even if you don't want it,because he thinks you'll happyly accept it once you are dead.

Also you have to view it from his standpoint: If he doesn't go out to kill these persons and make them undead, then someone else from the black mist will kill them. And if it is someone like Thresh, then it is going to be a very painful experience for you and he will torture you even when you are still dead. Karthus is pretty much doing you a favor for killing you without inflicting lots of pain because the other shadow islanders are probably a lot more cruel.

However overall I agree with your main point,I think Yorick fits pretty well as a morally neutral character(wouldn't say good though)

It's been said before that Yorick is basically a blue collar worker when it comes to the Shadow Isles. I too hope he at least remains a neutral character in regards to the Shadow Isles cast.

I agree with you. He also reminds me of Father Gascoigne for some reason.

I would like the think of Yorick as the person who is responsible for carrying your soul to the shadow isles. This implies that he has the OPTION to bring your soul there. he doesn't HAVE to. kinda like purgatory

Wait, they're doing something with Yorick? Is this real or just speculation, because I'd love to see some work done on the poor old guy.

On the actual topic, I have to agree because it's what makes Yorick unique. The sense that he continues his purpose beyond death makes him so much more interesting and kind of sympathetic.

I agree with you, I like Yorick being a neutral guy.

He's probably associated with the Shadow Isles because he's a gravedigger and he like haning out with the dead and he's all like," I bury dead people, might as well live amongst them."

I liked to keep the part of his old lore where he doesn't give 2 damns about games or politics, he just liked to dig Graves. What I don't really wanna keep from his old lore is the whole "family curse" and how he goes to the league to be "remembered".

Well I agree with you about keeping Yorick neutral, but I disagree with you about Karthus. He was a man fascinated by death, and although he does take the life of others against their will, he does so because he actually believes he is doing the right thing. In Karthus' mind he is the doctor and the living people around him are the children unwilling to take the injection (or perhaps cough medicine would make for a better analogy).

id much rather him stay with the shadow isles rather than neutral. The isles have been my favourite faction since i started league

Well, Yorik could be friends with Kindred or have something in his lore referencing Kindred as either the 2 parts of death(Not Counting Wolf) Yorik takes your body while Kindred takes your spirit (I Do NOT ship Kin and Yorik)
