Yes the support are not really fit in this cancer meta.

the support have of late level and are poor, they are easy targets for these bullet hole mid assassin

But of course riot prefer up the assassin rather than out in the support get better ...

Focusing so much on the support is a good way to let another lane snowball. Supports don't need much to do their job most of the time and can play well behind (that's really the whole premise of the support meta).
