Every single patch
Every single fucking patch, you whiny nerds find the next OP thing and cry about it nonstop. Every single patch, you witchhunt some role or some other because they seem strong to you. Do you know why we're here? We're here, in this hell hole of balance, because Riot listened to you and your complete nonsense. The game got worse and worse, and none of you actually know why or how, but you keep crying about the symptoms and want quick bandaid fixes that ultimately make it even worse.
Please take a step back, and consider the greater picture. Everyone has this point in time that they consider "the best" season, or the point where the game turned to shit. But I think anyone who has played this game for a long time will agree that it is getting worse. Why is it getting worse, despite constant fixes, new content and balance?
I believe there are three main reasons why League has become worse over the years.
1- LCS. In their attempt to make league exciting to watch, Riot has made the game flashier and shorter, with more explosive moments and almost no laning phase. The laning phase is probably the most important thing that sets apart good players and bad players, and it's been gutted. It's far shorter due to turrets being absolute paper, and junglers being insanely strong have far more of an effect on a lane than the laners themselves. All of this turned the game from lane phase (individual skill) -> teamfights (team skill) into lane phase (~50 50 individual and team skill) -> objective spam (team skill) -> teamfights (far less, game ends) individual skill of a laner is far far less relevant unless you go kill other lanes. Jungler, and mid mostly can do this. It's no surprise that Elo boosters play those two roles almost exclusively, they are the only ones where individual skill can still shine through early in the game enough to matter.
The game isn't designed to be fun to play anymore, it's designed to be fun to watch. Watching two people lane is boring as hell if you don't play at a decent level, but it's insanely fun to do. Considering how many people play League vs how many people watch it, that decision boggles my mind to this day.
2- x creep. All kinds of creeping. Power creep, mobility creep, whatever. Everything is getting stronger all the time. Items got cheaper, things like Zac's e make Malphite ult look like a joke, and so on. In essence, if you imagine balance like a set of scales, Riot tried balancing by adding stuff to both sides of the scales constantly. In this analogy, the scales have broken from the weight and nothing works anymore.
Just look at Zoe, I don't think I even need to say anything. To be viable, new content has to be so good that it's broken. When Kai'Sa got released and she wasn't a broken abomination, she was "unplayable". They had to patch her into being broken OP for anyone to want to play and especially, buy her.
That means anything that isn't being constantly made stronger to follow with the pack, is left in the dust. With champions, that means they're absolutely useless. Take this guy
He was one of the strongest teamfighters in season 2 and 3, a very strong pick that could win you teamfights. Now he's basically a troll pick, because he has no mobility, and his ult is the only good thing about him. But I'm sure he will get a rework eventually that will make him insane and push out some other worse champion into the troll box.
This constant creep made things like turrets, creeps, etc, far far weaker over time, and has made sure that jungle balance is out of whack at any given moment.
The game isn't stable enough for any sort of balance to form because of constant changes and constant power creep.
3- You. Yes you, the player. The guy who, with hundreds of others, takes to Reddit or this board, and asks for changes instead of learning the game. You've caused great harm to this game, because Riot listened to your uninformed and frankly terrible ideas over the years. The most recent example I can think of is the latest ADC changes. You've completely killed 2/3 of the ADC roster, and botlane is a complete mess. Just because you thought ADCs were "op". The role which has been the easiest to kill since season 3 consistently, the role that dies to anyone and anything 1 on 1, the role that can't do anything without a team, and the role that both team always had, which cancel each other out.
Instead of fixing your play, instead of getting better, you completely fucked the role because you didn't like it. This is exactly the kind of change that makes the game worse. The reason ADCs were so "op" to begin with, is because of creep. The constant arms race between tanks and damage made it so their damage was essentially burst for non tanky champions. But that's what mages have been doing forever, so what's the problem? It's what the broken balance required of them to even work. And as far as I can tell, without that, the only viable ADCs are those who can burst without crit. You haven't changed anything in the end, ADCs still burst you, and 2/3 of ADCs are now unplayable.
And I'm sure Riot will make them playable again eventually, and they will be even stronger than they were pre nerf, and somehow you will be happy about it.
tl;dr this forum should be deleted and Riot should never read Reddit
