So with first win bonus, seven wins (including first win) and four losses to equal a total of eleven games, I got rank 31, finally! What did I get? I was happy to see I had five champion shards, because five champion shards means one perma-champion, right (no). I got, Annie, Ashe, Mordekaiser, Poppy, Xin Zhao, so three 450 champions and two 1350 champions... Great. After being disappointed in not being able to merge three shards into a random champion, I said hell to it and I looked at the disenchant price. 90 - Annie 90 - Ashe 90 - Poppy 270 - Morderkaiser 270 - Xin Zhao

All added up for a total of... drumroll please! 810 Blue Essence! Back on IP I would have gotten 300 from first win bonus 80 from each match afterwards 300+800 = 1100, which is already 290 more.

Riot what the fuck, after 11 matches, with first win bonus, I would have at least have gotten enough to buy a 1350 champion by now. I added up all of the minutes of the games (excluding seconds) to see how long reaching Level 31 took me. It took me 314 minutes which equates to 5 hours 14 minutes. So let's see how long it would take to get each priced champion (note, due to how the system works, I'll be doing it stacking) 5 Hours for 450 Champion 10 Hours for 1350 Champion 15 Hours for mystery champion shard (If they even exist) 20 Hours for 3150 Champion 30 Hours for 4800 Champion 40 Hours for 6300 Champion

With the IP system it took roughly 30 hours for 6300 Champion. But wait, there's more! As you level up, the experience required to level up increases! Great! So those hours increase!

What the fuck Rito.

EDIT I may add, getting five shards seems to be extremely lucky from what I see, some people are just left with a 90BE Shard.

I'm with you 100% on this. Also why would we not get champion capsules for our past 30 levels at least??? This makes no sense. This system is so punishing to anyone who is lvl 30 but doesn't have all the champions already.

I like the new runes but not the page system. These are basically masteries yet riot calls them runes to justify the page system from before. Just give us 20 pages like you did masteries. This patch is so terrible when it comes to buying champs and the general economy of the game. Riot is penalizing us for being high leveld and it's infuriating that they are literally baiting us to buy RP for champs now.

So you actually need more exp for further levels? How are people supposed to save money to buy champs then? Unless they allow people to gift champs with BE people's champs pool is going to be very very poor. They made the game more unfriendly for beginners.

For reference - BE stands for Blue Essence, IP stands for Influence Points

Couple problems with your math here, Vital:

  1. First win of the day bonus was 150 IP. Considering the maximum amount of IP you can win per game is 145 at 55+ minutes, and 150+145=295 (5 less than 300), your estimate of 300 IP from a first win is incorrect and unattainable.
  2. You estimated 80 IP per game after that, but that doesn't take into account the length of your games and whether you won or lost, which ends up being significantly lower than that.
  3. You seem to misunderstand how Riot chooses the number of shards. You only get multiple shards if your total BE disenchant value is below the minimum. The average value of shards is 910 BE but cannot be lower than 810 BE, nor higher than 1,240 BE. Source

From my calculations, you would have had an estimated average of a little over 60 IP per game, which with the first win of the day bonus (extra 150 ip), meant you would have earned about 812 IP total, which is almost exactly how much blue essence you earned from disenchanting those champ shards.

Proof: It's not exact since you didn't give the individual times per game, but you did give a total. With 314 minutes over 11 games, that averages 28.5̅4̅. For precision, I will use (314/11). Using the formula found on the League of Legends wiki here, we can show that wins are about 18 + 2.312 IP/minute, and losses are 16 + 1.405IP/minute. We can calculate your earnings under the old system by this formula: IP gained under old system = # of wins * (18 + 2.312 * Average game length) + # of losses * (16 + 1.405 * Average game length) + First win of the day bonus (150).

With your 7 wins and 4 loses, and the aforementioned average of (314/11) minutes per game, it calculates as follows:

7 * (18 + 2.312 * (314/11)) + 4 * (16 + 1.405 * (314/11)) + 150 = 812.40509̅0̅ IP

Also for those that like to nit-pick; yes, I'm aware I didn't use standard mathematical notation. I tried to make it accessible to most people.

TL/DR: You would have earned about 812 IP from the old system, almost exactly as much as the 810 BE you earned from the new system.

yep, i expected this was going to happen.

On a another note i'm glad i didn't spend more than 20k of my 100k BE (picked up a few chromas) because while now ill still wait for the new champs to drop to 6300, i don't have to worry about farming for them for a long time.

The funny part is... they said they will up the rewards. But only the lower one, so they did nothing. They didn't increase NOTHING. ( They only added 100 BE to the bad roll. )

They calculate stuff based on how bad the other reward system was and they throw it in our faces so we expect that we fall for it.

The old one was already bad, since it took a long time. So, it's irrelevant for them to even calculate stuff based on the old system.

People wanted faster ways to getting champions... not champion shards.

This part is really concerning. So if someone gets to a high level and dumps that BE away it could take someone even weeks to level up to get a fraction of a new champ

They should give standard 1000BE and two champion shards each level. Level 10 would reward you with 5000BE and three shards and whatever emote or gemstone you get depending on the level.

That way we can finally complete our champion pool after 7 years of grind fookfest.

So my husband and I just spend the last 2 evenings playing to get to level 31, we played 9 games in total, of which 2 wins of the day.

Now according to my match history pre-'pre-season' we earned around 260 IP for a win of the day, and between 60 and 100 for the other games, depending on their length. So, in the old system let's say 2x 260IP + 7x 80IP games = **1080IP earned. ** Today we hit 31, I get 2 champ shards worth a total of 600IP in disenchanting and my husband got 2x 90IP disenchant and one a little over 300 (if only I remembered the exact numbers), so a total of 400-500IP!

So I wonder, how is that in about the same rate as before? Even if I said we only earned 60IP per game and 250 per win of the day before it wouldn't add up to what we got out of the leveling capsule. This was so incredibly demoralizing.... I mean, I'm dying to get Zoe and need 22 more champs to fill the roster (all 4800 & 6300) and I guess now I'll never get that without cashing in real money. It will take me between 10-11 level ups at this rate to earn a new champ >.< Not to mention masteries are completely out of the question now, 3200 for a mastery 7? I mean.... what? I need to level up 8 times to get a mastery 7 for showoff? ..... I really thought it would be on par if not a little easier to earn the champions now, but this is horribly sad and demoralizing.

Wow you got 4 shards? I got only 2. You are lucky af... Well I hate new system as well, by playing games you get almost nothing just xp.. woohoo everybody likes some xp am I right? -_- I would like to give blue essence each instead of capsules for lvl up, maybe not so much like IP but still something.. It would be worth playing those games at least. Im feeling not being rewarded by wasting my time to play this game at all. Gonna start to play Killing Floor again.. f**k...[zombie-brand-facepalm]

P.S. starting to hate this game more and more...

This post is misguided, so let me help.

First of all, most of the information I'm going to reference comes from this post from the dev corner: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/Jh3Mtzu6-blue-essence-earn-rates-learning-the-numbers-with-carl-and-henrietta I recommend reading this article before continuing so you can understand my reasoning.

First of all, your 810 BE capsule is the LOWEST POSSIBLE DROP that you could've gotten. Other capsules can be worth 900, 960, or 1240 blue essence, with the average value being 910 BE. So the fact that you're complaining about getting the lowest amount is quite petty considering all capsules don't always give you that amount.

Second, your math regarding the old IP is wrong. Let's use the actual numbers rather than estimates. 250 (first win of the day) + 500 (5 wins) + 335 (5 losses) = 1085 IP 1085 - 910 = 175 difference in currency.

Now, this is still a sizable difference... if we weren't getting discounts on champion sales with these shards. And I quote: "Let’s say you drop a Jinx shard which DE’s for 1,240 Blue Essence. If you need to unlock Jinx, you can use the Shard to get her for an extra 20% off. This means instead of paying 6,300 Blue Essence, you actually only pay 3,780 and use the shard. You basically get DOUBLE the BE value if you need that champ. So if you’re a new player who wants to unlock all the champions, each time you drop a champ you still need, we’ve greatly increased your IP/BE gain even more."

And let's not forget that more champ shards and blue essence makes it way easier to upgrade mastery.

It might feel like you're getting short-staffed at first, but if you actually look into the details of the new system you're actually getting rewarded MORE. The merging of IP and blue essence makes a) champion shards more useful by letting you buy champions at discounts, b) more loot; you still get chests and key shards from honor, and c) upgrading champion mastery happen faster. That 175 difference per level is DEFINITELY made up for in the champion capsules; it beats having to spend 1700 IP on champion shards just to get enough blue essence.

In short, Riot actually is giving us more with this new system and we should be grateful.

P.S. Also, in terms of everyone starting at level 30, I'd rather have more milestones to reach than have some of the journey already completed. Now I can compete with my friends to see who can reach milestones the quickest. [sg-ahri-2]

create a new account then: Level 2: Ashe Level 3: Garen Level 4: Brand Level 5: 2880BE, Champ Shard (disenchant ~300BE) ~playtime roughly 2h Level 6: Capsule etc

for lv 6 i got a capsule with a champ shard and 280BE for lv 7 i got a capsule with 880BE

It kills my joy as a new player. I think Riot intentionally fucks with their players or some shit like that. First of Garena kill my main account by pulling the "foreign IP ban" bull fucking shit which make my account inaccessible from Canada. After I created a new account in NA, this piece of fucking trash happened. University is busy as hell. I dont know what the fuck they smoked when they said "Casual Carl plays 2 matches a day". As a Uni student I only have time to play during weekend. I've been playing 4 champs for weeks! I feel so tired I dont even want to boost up LoL. They blatantly lied about the amount of BE we can get. "720 at worst". LIAR! I HAVE 4 CAPSULES WITH 450 BE EACH. THE LAST ONE I OPENED IS RYZE SHARD. FUCKING CHEAP ASS RYZE SHARD 90 BE.
