What if Nidalee was an AD champ?

ForgottenStone··4 votes·1,251 views

How balanced would Nidalee be if she were reworked to scale off AD and deal physical damage?

I mean thematically it makes sense the only thing magical she does is shape shifting and her heal. Illaoi abilities look way more magical and yet she is a pure physical damage AD bruiser.

Naturally if she were AD all her ratios would have to be reduced probably up to a 33% reduction. So if the current javelin toss has an ap ratio of 120% it would instead have an AD ratio of 80% and so on.

On an unrelated note It would also be cool if cougar form got some bonus resistances as well. Not huge but something like a 10% - 20% increase to total MR and Armor.

We've had metas where nid went AD bruiser top. It was an annoying splitpush build you could never catch.

But what about today’s meta with new champs, items, runes, etc.

Hard to say, back then it was too different, could be relevant and yet again could not, but form my point of view if she would be reversed to that state, it would be like Gangplank 2.0

And there where also meta when she was still playable top and viable while not actually being meta. Just because a champion isn't picked/banned 100% lcs doesn't mean it isnt viable and nid has had those times and it wasn't toxic.

"wasn't toxic"

debatable.

the same can be said for anything in league

I think the issue with Nid is she's just a weird mess. One of her core items in jungle is Athenes. This means she turns into what amounts to be an assassin support and that just doesn't make sense. I think they should give her some kind of mini update because as is she's just such a strange champion.

Most Nid mains don't build athenes, only people who mobafire builds do. Like most assassins, her late game isn''t that great, that's why you can build support-style items to go with your heal so you at least remain somewhat relevant. This speaks of good design and not the other way around.

She definitely does not need any sort of rework. Currently she's doing really well and has quite a few different build paths available to her, all according to your playstyle. If anything, more champions should be like her.

You guys are basically calling for changes to a champion that has been problematic in the past and is now finally balanced and functional. I don't see how that makes her a mess, sorry.

I just go by OP.GG and it seems Athenes is pretty common on her. I understand Nid mains may not but still she falls into a situation where she is simply not accessable to new aspiring Nid players as she just does not function as well as say Kha. I agree she can be diverse but she just seems like a worse Kha and in a game of optimal picks being so heavily picked it makes a difference how accessible champions are.

Her mains pull above average win rates on the champ. Either you play enough to learn her properly, or you don't. Currently she's a high-tier pick by all means and purposes. She's playable in all elos.

She plays literally nothing like Kha, and she isn't meant to either. The fact that she has a heal means she can adapt her playstyle much more accordingly than Kha ever will, you can even build her semi-tank and still dish out enough damage.

Kha isn't an optimal pick either half the time in this meta where people pretty much only play tank junglers to avoid getting oneshotted by the insane damage in this game. If you can pick Kha, you can pick Nid as well. The only difference is that Nid is significantly more difficult to master.

More champions need to be like nidalee used to be not like she is now. Only being playable in one single role with one type of build is bland and boring. She was far more balanced pre jungle than she ever was post jungle hands down.

Oh boy I still have nightmares about item 3153 item 3025 and tank items Nida top

Actually I don't remember the season but a while ago she had ad ratios, don't remember how strong she was..

she interfered with marksmen too well back then, so, naturally, it went away

it also gave her a bit too much damage for very few tank items and other stuff I didn't keep up with

I think one or two of her abilities already have AD scaling. Testing how she works based off of that would be an interesting mini-rework idea.

She used to had one AD rework back around Season 3-4. It got removed because it was annoying af to lane against as a melee at top lane. All she does is poke you to death with her AA, and once you're low, she pounces in for the execution.

What about season 8 ranged tops? Like Quinn? Or people with easy harass like GP and Illaoi?

people still play quinn?

Me :(

  • Who still plays Quinn...?

  • GP's melee & his Q is expensive in the early game. His barrels can be easily countered too.

  • Illaoi's melee, her Q has a delay which is often easy to dodge, and her E is blockable.

WindLord70701 votes

This is incorrect she has ALWAYS had an ad scaling on her cat form q and has always been played top AD by some people most people don't remember this because they probably didn't play against it much. It was not because of her rework she was just happened to be strong at that point and the nidalee mains that played her where able to abuse it a. Alot of top laners even today have no idea how to play vs squishy ranged top lane champs. She became strong because of a small buff and because after the rework they changed her cat form Q to deal magic damage instead of physical which made it extremely hard to build against her defensive wise. Nidalee doesn't need a full rework again to be playable top lane again however all she needs is to be reverted to before her passive affected jungle monsters AND change it so her cat form Q does deal physical damage when building AD so enemies can build armor and not have to choose MR or armor.

Lethality Nidalee would be scary as hell if she kept her current kit but her AP/magic damage was switched to AD/physical damage.

HP Crookshanks1 votes

She would be stronger because of the superior AD items.

Sire Hippington1 votes

we had that in the past, wasn't pretty. Basically a even more obnoxious Jayce in toplane...

Nidalee is fine as she is. Needs no changes whatsoever.

Nidalee Would be the perfect split build champ. She should have higher AP ratios in her human form and then switch to higher Ad ratios in cougar form. Then she could have 3 separate build paths.

AP builds for big spears and heals item 3100item 3135item 1414 item 3089

AD builds geared for fighting as a cougar item 3078 item 3147 item 3071 item 1412 Split builds for balance item 3124 item 3115 item 3091 item 3146

It sounds fun I’d rather see her have mixed stats if she were to go AD. Like picking up Hextech Gunblade and the synergy it has with Litch Bane.
