EDIT: Yes i know that QSS counters malz. What should I build on an AP champion then? Stop saying QSS its annoying. And I wont be playing GP in mid lane either

What counters Malzahar? The champ that does so much dps. A surpression. A combo that can instantly kill ANYONE without his ult. I feel like his ult is just for BM A silence for some reason.. He can literally Free farm for days cause of his ability. And I feel like people are going to say "Well he has high mana costs...." Well so do jinx rockets. Obviously a joke.

3 things can counter him: 1.Qss 2.Immunity to CC 3.CC(if you can time up your cc to hit him right when he's channeling,eg Ahri charm or get your buttbuddy junglerto 2v1 him

Swain is the best champion I've found. Your ulti heals you even after he CC's you, so you can win extended trade.

If this was draft pick, You should probably have taken Cleanse. If no Item can give you the ability you need. (seeing as you don't want to take QSS.) Then you would need the Summoner to compensate.

Against Malz I tend to play champions with better range than him, then juke his spells to the best of my ability. Ahri has better range with cc and q so I just juke most of the spells. also by staying at high health and keeping up in farm and level you should survive the ult as long as you don't get ganked or something..

Here's the thing about Malzahar. If you can avoid his Malefic Visions, don't stand in his aoe, and don't get poked down by his slience, you're good. The only reason his ult is so strong is because people let him infect them with Malefic Visions, directly or via jumping off the minion wave, stand far away from their tower, and act surprised when his ult goes off and he kills them. You get two dots on you, and good malz players will have their aoe down on you, so that's 3 DoT's going at once. It's a lot, but it's avoidable. Pretty much by any mid laner, in fact. Just don't stand close to something with malefic visions and hang back away from him, or where he can't safely ult you without being in tower range. It also helps if you can out-cs him, or have some way to push him back or punish him, like with annie (since she has mostly unlimited poke and high burst, due to her q farming refunding a lot of her mana) and she has a stun that can keep him at bay. Any popular mid right now can deal with malz, it's just that people don't know how to. A lot of people barely even know what malz does, let alone try to find counter play to him.

don't give up; I made malzahar cry as veigar, and this was before his buff that gave him stacks on assist, and before his surprise pick in the lcs. If you know what you're doing, you can beat malz as pretty much anyone.

Pick someone who outranges him (vel, xerath, etc.), yasuo can be a skill/bug matchup, hope your jungler sees the easy kill (no mobility, has to push to refund mana, LONG cooldowns) and helps you. Malzahar is a duelist, if you fight him 1v1 on equal terms he will kill you. Seriously though, 9 seconds on his shortest cooldown until he has a few points in E or buys cdr. Abuse those cds.

Any assassin can kill him easily, he's fairly immobile and really dependent on his ult.

What counters him? Anyone who's not melee (or an incredibly mobile melee) and strong poke. He has zero HP sustain, so he's easy to poke out of lane, and he's totally immobile which makes skillshots easy to land. Just make sure to stay away from infected minions, and don't get caught in his silence + puddle + ult combo. If he suddenly becomes aggressive, back off and wait him out, then poke him a bit. If he ults you, make sure it happens away from his minions and outside of his puddle -- by itself, his ult isn't enough to kill you, it's all four abilities put together. Build an Abyssal / Hexdrinker / Visage part first, and his damage will fall off a lot. Try to push him to his tower without getting infected, and he loses a lot of power.

If you give me your mid picks, I can tell you how to play against him specifically with that champ. ^^

It is pretty hard to win lane vs him but you don't need to win lane to win game.

Out-rotate him and get side lanes fed.
