We were supposed to get a Catalyst/item 3027 and Haunting Guise update but they pulled it midseason and never brought it back for no reason despite overwhelmingly positive response....

because mages as a whole need a groundwork re-envisioning, since all the cool flavor of brand is ruined by "I stun you, you pop!" instead of like... lighting shit on fire and being horrifying in longer fights as the entire area he combats in slowly gets consumed by flame. Or asol now goes "I stun u, u die" instead of doing like anything involving being a starforming dragon,

Basically the only mage with realized potential is lux, who is effectively also "I snare u, u die" but her theme is shooting lasers and shit so like, yeah

Ahri steals souls and life essence in lore, transforms, in game she charms you and you die Anivia , mother of storms, protects those she loves from the harsh weather, condemns her enemies to death of blizzard. In game? She stuns you and you die Annie pyromancer, channeler of some sort of spirit or something with tibbers, so she's kinda psychic/pyrokenetic right? does the whole carry thing in lore, in game she just stuns you and you die Elise Brood mother, extremely agile, leader of swarms of spiders, immortal lover of poisons, assassinations, puller of strings in the lotus.... stuns u, u die now

the only mages who don't follow this formula are some of the better champions in the game honestly, but because the majority of mages have such limited kits that all do one thing, there will only ever be 1 or 2 viable mages at a time, and itemization has to be insanely overpowered

That would be true except there's letarly mage dominating every role in this game

No, there isn't.

I've been saying this for a LOOOOOONG time. Riot needs to stop limiting their imagination to just new ways of dealing damage. Admittedly they have found ways of adding kind of cool mobility, like with Rakan, J4, Elise, Lee Sin, etc. But now mobility is so common and generally good in every situation that it's not really that exciting and just oversaturated TBH. Riot needs to focus more on cool, flavorful utility on spells.

I think Viktor's kit is cool for the most part and his whole kit is essentially a wide variety of ways to provide zone control outside of his Q along with his damage. Orianna I think is in a good place too cuz of the speed & shield on W-E. I'm a huge fan of Braum's entire kit, from a flavor and originality standpoint. I think Yasuo W is really cool, but rest of his kit is boring. And I think those are the kinds of things Riot needs to incorporate more in the game.

Sure, that stuff is harder to balance than just tweaking numbers. But I'd be totally open to Riot only releasing like 1 champ a year if it meant the kits were more interesting and polished.

Elise cocoon isn't eveb remotely needed for her kills. She has the spiderbomb and neurotoxin, and jumps on you with rappel and autos you to death with an Execute spiderbite.

Also ignoring Nidalee, does the same thing but no CC whatsoever. Or Jayce, or Azir Cassiopeia Chogath Fizz Gangplank Kassadin Mordekaiser Rumble Velkoz Vladimir Ziggs Galio

Wow thats a lot of mages who dont rely on stuns to kill. And fwiw, Ahri does drain souls. Her spellcasts charge up and at max stacks her next ability drains health?

And lux Q isn't needed for her to E+AA+R you but she still follows the pattern

I'm a jayce otp and I've been discussing how Nidalee was stripped of her flavor and depth to accomodate a Press q to 1shot playstyle, and how slowly but surely riot is doing the same to jayce. This is an issue of itemization, because instead of just swapping her item pool to AD they decided "Hey, let's just remove everything that most people enjoy about her and force her into being a squishy hyper mobile 1shot machine, because we don't have any of those yet!"

Elise will generally either reppel down onto you when you're near death or will cacoon you and then burst you to death

{champion:268}} Cassiopeia Chogath Fizz Gangplank Kassadin Mordekaiser Rumble Velkoz Vladimir Ziggs Galio

Azir is his own thing, he's basically a zone control adc who scales off ability power over attack damage... and his kit was heavily damaged to bring him into line with linestun burst mages.....Velkoz most certainly is a stun to kill champ, he just also does enough raw damage to not give a shit, the rest of the champs you've mentioned are all assassins, bruisers, or ap fighters. Don't conflate them just casting a lot with them being mages bro, otherwise all the sudden Lux and Lucian are the same kind of champion... which they most certainly aren't.

Wow thats a lot of mages who dont rely on stuns to kill.

You listed two mages, and a bunch of fighters....

And fwiw, Ahri does drain souls. Her spellcasts charge up and at max stacks her next ability drains health?

.........you're missing point entirely
