Universal tip for junglers
When it comes to ganking, I have seen many players try to only use the river as a ganking route. For example, just running out of the river into a lane to gank and ending up losing the gank or the enemy sees you via ward or they aren't too pushed up and get away.
There are multiple ganking routes, and I will go through each non-river entrance into each lane.
Top: The tri-bush is an amazing ganking route, not many people think to ward that area, the problem is that if you are on red team ganking from that route isn't as effective as if you are on blue team. In that case if you are on the red team, try taking the tri-bush behind blue side tower an plan a flank on the enemy laner.
Mid: The most versatile ganking route for a jungler on either team due to the river walls, this leads to six ganking routes in total including the river entrance.
Bot: See top lane, it is the same concept however it is reversed. Easier to gank blue team as red team from behind.
This all also means your choice of jungler may be a huge asset into how effective you can gank different lanes. For example a champion like
is better suited for both teams gank routes, same with
. This is because they have the kits designed to be powerhouse gankers.
A champion like
,
,
,
/
(pre-six),
,
and even
(yeah, I know, quite a lot) however, rely a lot on how quickly they can catch up to their target, so they rely on using the alternative ganking routes to be effective as possible. Picking them is a matter on which lane has the best ganking route and how can you be an asset to that lane with what you pick.
The bottom line of this is don't just only use river as a ganking route, it makes you predictable and easy to spot. One of the best things a jungler can do is make the enemy laners scared you're nearby if you keep using alternating routes.
Hope that helped.
EDIT: Oh wow, so a guy tries to help with tips on ganking routes, spending valuable time he could be using to do something else getting swarmed by hate because I'm unranked? Yeah, no wonder this board has gone to shit.
