As an immobile mage main...

Hey guys! I'm DownloadSomeRAM, and I have played control mages extensively since I began playing, with my main champion being Malzahar (250k mastery) and my second being Vel'Koz (100k mastery). I even moderate the Malzahar Mains subreddit. While I agree that There is some work to be done as far as Mages are concerned, I am very hard-pressed to find any reason for a major rework of this particular class of champions, since I personally find them all quite fun to play. They are all very easily punished if the enemy jungler has any portion of a functioning brain, and they can all be dealt with in lane in a manner that I find to be rather easy. I can understand tweaks here and there, but from my point of view, a full rework really isn't necessary.

TL;DR - Pls not my beautiful Malzahar

I am also a die-hard Malz main (and a happy sub to /r/malzaharmains) but I find it hard to state unequivocally that there are no possible changes to be made for him.

I would like his skill floor and skill cap to be raised, personally. It irritates me when Malz gets popular because nobody respects the work I put into voidling micro, skill planning, and positioning...

I have to agree 110% none of the mages feel overwhelming they all counter and can be countered. They can be ganked fairly easy if they do not ward and unlike other champions aren't the center of public outcry on the boards. I would like for Riot to think twice before they begin to alter some of my favorite champions. Perhaps they should focus these changes towards the jungle or top lane. I do think mid with the exception of Yasuo is in decent balance.

Uhhmm, everything Riot touches to make/rework ends up more powerful and the center of the meta.

I doubt its nerfing they have in mind.

The focus of the (Juggernaut/Markman) rework is not necessarily to find major flaws in a class and attempt to fix them from the ground up, but to help differentiate champions within the class from each other. The Marksman change for example made no major change to Marksman play style; they're still squishy mostly DPS-centric gold reliant and item abusing champions. It's just now there are clear cut choices between Bullet Hell Miss Fortune or Shotgun Burst Carry Graves.

In my point of view for example, Xerath and Ziggs do not have very much that differentiates them from each other. Lux's most unique function as an immobile mage is her Shield, but most players take that for granted. And then there's champs like Morgana which is its own bucket of oddities.

To reiterate. There isn't necessarily a problem with Mages as a class, but there's a lot to be improved within the class itself.
