Suggestion for a more balanced Leona

As a Leona Support main, one of the main things I never understood about her kit was her passive. Yes, its designed for adc-support teamwork, but its not a very exciting passive like, say Katarina's. So I thought of a passive that was more senseful for her kit in general:

Solar Power Leona's Abilities that hit enemy champions grant a small amount of armor and magic resist to nearby allies for a few seconds. This can stack up to 3 times, and each stack lasts for 2 seconds. Once the passive buff has dissipated, Leona cannot trigger the passive on the same enemy (shown by a similar effect to her current Sunlight passive ability) for several seconds. (Maybe this number scales down through Ult levels.)

This would be a good change for her.It would remove a little of the annoying damage she provides, but also make her better at supporting.

Upvoted.

BTW is anyone else bothered that champion designd as a sun has no blind? O_0

My biggest problem with Leona's passive is that its damage is kind of inconsequential, especially lategame.

Hmm, how about something like Nautilus' passive, except as a blind? Any champion Leona autoattacks is Blinded for 0.75/1/1.25 seconds. (Or some other numbers.) It shouldn't be a huge buff, as any champions Leona gets to would likely be in an 1.75 sec Q stun.

Your suggestion makes thematic sense.

Leona is primarily a defender, and her role in the game is as a damage-soaking CC machine.

Her current passive offers nothing towards either of those roles, instead giving her significant burst damage in duo lanes, and pushes her focus more towards all-in engages rather than peeling and protection.

A passive that gave a defensive bonus to her allies rather than an offensive one would fit better with her role as defender, potentially make her more useful in prolonged teamfights, and make her all-in a little less deadly when her lane is ahead.

It wouldn't solve the "feast or famine" problem that Leona lanes often have, though - where Leona's lane is either ahead and can just jump onto and potentially kill the enemy at every opportunity, or her lane is behind and she can't really contribute in any meaningful way.

Leona's Passive is fine . It rewards you for going and taking damage by making your ally do more damage. And late game it can add a decent amount of burst. She doesn't need the attention right now since other champs , even other supports need the attention. cough coughTaric Poppy Urgot

Leona's passive doesn't need to be changed at all. Giving armor is redundant since her w does this, and giving it to your allies is only worthwhile if you're not positioned to soak up damage, which you should be. Making her passive a blind would make her overly op, she would jump in take no damage while the adc bursts away.

Her passive is one of the things that makes her a viable aggressive tank support. It rewards you for timing your abilities and stuns with your adc, increasing the epic teamwork feel-good plays.
