Focusing my support pool.

I tend to play a lot of champions, but I want to focus my support champion pool down a bit. I tend to kinda pick what ever i'm feeling not necessarily whats the best for the situation. Right now I play Alistar , Thresh , Maokai , Leona , Taric , Brand , Sion , Velkoz and Shen . I want to narrow it down to 3 that can cover different situations, suggestions?

I'd recommend having one of each type of Support.

1 Enchanter, 1 Mage, 1 Tank.

**Enchanter I'd recommend Nami or Sona. **

These two are the strongest Enchanter supports right now.

Nami is more focused on the early - mid game while Sona is your scaling Support.

If you can reach your Items on Sona and not get completely ruined, She is the best support in the mid - late game in terms of scaling.

**Mage I'd recommend Brand or Zyra **

These two are just cancerous at all stages of the game.

Very oppressive to lane against and very oppressive in team fights.

These two can very easily make up for a bad ADC or bad mid laner in terms of damage output.

**Tank I'd recommend Alistar or Leona **

Two very oppressive tanks to play against, both provide insane engage for their team and can peel very well.

They also get extremely tanky as the game goes on.

Ali is the best and more versatile in that pool so keep him, band has a alot of damage and ap that helps if you need ap and thresh since he takes alot of skill that can help you learn other champions if you want to play more champions.

My bet is focusing on Thresh, Brand and Taric.

  • Thresh is overall solid for Tanking, CC and Engaging.
  • Brand is a good heavy DPS support with high efficiency against a higher number of targets
  • Taric is a good bruiser/tank with basic forms of healing and enough tools to protect his ADC for half en eternity

These three should cover most situation.

though if you really want to cover all fronts you might want to invest some time in a enchanter like Lulu, Sona or Soraka to switch out for Taric.

Shen or Taric for protection. Alistar, Thresh, or Leona for engage/tank. Brand or Vel'koz for poke. I think that sounds about right. I would recommend having an enchanter like some other people have suggested, but if you're not interested in it then I think this would be good.
