@Riot Do you think the new changes will negatively impact the already suffering MAGE class?

Where do you guys see the Mage class' overall performance being? High, Low? I personally feel like the Assassin's update kinda undid what the Mage update laid in place for the Mage class.

I am just wondering after the current changes to item 3102 and item 3026 I can't imagine mages will be doing well. Mages in my understanding are less damage than Assassins but also less squishy, so they aren't going to be necessarily hunting and slaying, but utilizing "some combination of long-range, area-effect or high-utility spells to get the job done" so I can't imagine being able to fight or lane against an Ekko as a Lux, Morgana, Karma, Xerath, Vel'Koz, etc. if he has built item 3102 (since now it's not a tradeoff miss out on Damage for Resistances) and has built a item 3157, plus he does have his ult as well. Naturally bursty Mages, or most AP Assassins are going to be stronger in the meta that they are already stronger in, but I feel like for not-so-bursty (take time and lots of combos to get the kill) mages Karthus or Cassiopeia will either be in a stalemate of "my/their ult missed because I/they used Zhonya's, and my/their combo missed because I/they had Banshee's Veil" or they will simply be EXPLODED.

What do y'all think? Do you think that their will continue to be a rise in the Assassins/Bursty Mages?

Also with the new item 3026 changes I can't imagine a Zed or Yasuo having to think twice about buying it from now on. And I hate you for that. An already good Zed/Yasuo player seems to slay an entire team and be unkillable but now you've made it even harder because instead of maybe buying G.A. they will.

the new item 3102 is better than item 3001 for mages. Mages got mr/lvl now.

Ahri Orianna already doing extremely well, they're fine lmao.

if they made ga, they're bad. item 3102 isnt a trade off for resist, its the same thing, but swapped passive. Pretty sure. Its better for them.

I dislike the GA change, even though I'm a Gangplank main and the item is probably great for him, but Riot mentioned they tested making an AP version of GA aswell and mages were just buying Zhonya's instead so it didn't go live :P

This is basically the continuation of the death of mages started from season six with the WOTA/Mana regen per 5/catalyst of ages removals.

Already this year they took away Abyssal Scepter and made it a tank item, nerfed mana regen from 1.5 to 1.25% (way to go out of your way just for that tiny percentage!) and gutted Rylai's. Now, I know there's always champs like Veigar people point to but the general class of mage is absolutely toast. Sterak and Maw have buffs, Gargoyle Stoneplate's a new thing, Adaptive Helm is significant to "battle mages" whatever the hell that's supposed to be and GA is now basically an AD only item. Swain's ult was given a huge cooldown nerf despite the mana cost being significant, Anivia's ult was nerfed, its just becoming a question of which AP caster is next in the list to be gutted to death.

On an "unrelated" note, melee AD champions seem to be doing FANTASTIC since season 6...

Mages being weak? I don't see it.

Are you a fool? Ap assassins suck right now. Mages are the strongest class under maybe maybe supports

( supports are the clear strongest in league)

Either Mages or suppports are the strongest class in the game. Supports mainly just because its a pretty big pool but mages are in no way weak. I dont want to be "that" guy but look at big plays in the LCS. Mages have the damage and survivability to affect every teamfight almost.
