Runes For Each Role?

Hi guys,

So I'm by no means a "new" player as I've lingered between gold-plat for 2-3 seasons now, but with all the new changes season 6 has brought to the table I'm looking for some advice on how to build my rune pages for each specific role as I'm more of a Support/Fill main and I'm looking to make it to Diamond this season.

I've gotten by with some pretty basic cookie cutter builds, but when I look at people in higher ELO's they all have very specific pages (sometimes 3-4 pages for the same role) depending on the comp, enemy laner, type of champion.. etc.

Does anyone happen to know of any good reading material, or guides that I can follow to set up some clean pages for each of the lanes, etc? I have a good amount of runes and have about 22k IP saved up so I can buy more and what not.

Thanks in advance guys!

The biggest thing is to experiment. It's one thing to have a good setup, but it's another to know why it is good. Not just to know the reason, but to understand it in it's entirety.

Typically runes are considered early game stat boosts, but I personally don't play for the early game. I usually play to have a spike where I start trading and fighting in the late-early game and the mid game, so I ended up going with scaling runes. They overtake the stats of flat runes around level 7, so it's perfect for my style of play.

Very few people will recommend scaling runes, but I do far better with them than I do with the far more common flat runes. What you need to do is figure out what would best benefit your play style. Do you want those flat stats for early power, or are you willing to wait for a natural power spike in your champion later on? Do you need a bit of extra sustain to keep your poke going, or do you need some more CDR to keep the damage flowing?

In the end runes are still just a basic stat boost, but you can customize to improve YOU rather than your champion. Get a few extra rune pages when there's a two for one deal and experiment with what fits you best.
